America’s Next Civil War? Immigration Control


This one could get ugly. It is way past time to get serious about the infestation of illegal activity in our country. If this was an infestation of locusts, or some communicable disease would the same lackadaisical attitude prevail in stopping the onslaught? The flood of illegals across our southern border is a communicable disease which infests the communities infiltrated. The only cure is eradication and prevention. This cancer if left unchecked will destroy our national sovereignty.

America is now engaged in a second Civil War.  Rather than guns and cannons facing off across blood soaked fields, it’s state and federal lawyers firing legal briefs in efforts to prevail.  The battle lines are clearly drawn, whether it’s enforcement of immigration laws, the enforcement of election laws or mandating that every American must purchase health insurance, there is indeed a plan to fundamentally change America.  The consequences of this plan are quite possibly more far-reaching than those of the first Civil War.

Did you know?
General George Washington’s first battle flag carried the British Union Jack in its upper left corner. American Revolutionaries combined the Union Jack with 13 red and white stripes to demonstrate that while loyal to England, they were also committed to justice for the 13 colonies.

Betsy who?  Betsy Ross : Designer of Our Flag
Most historians now discredit the legend that Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross produced the first American flag in 1776. It is a fact that the pre-Union Pennsylvania government asked Betsy to sew flags for its navy—but others whose names are now forgotten were also asked to do so.

Grand Old Birthday
On June 14, 1777, the new Continental Congress resolved “that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

Indivisible
During the Civil War, Lincoln‘s advisers, reflecting the view of many Northerners, wanted him to order the removal of the 11 stars representing the rebellious states. Lincoln replied that his mission as President was to preserve the Union at all costs. How could he allow the stars of the Confederate states to be stricken from the flag when so much blood was being spilled to keep them?

The Pledge of Allegiance was first published in The Youth’s Companion children’s magazine in 1892 as part of a national public school celebration. In Honor of Our Veterans


 

It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor. —George Washington

Vetsday2008.jpg (470x600 pixels)Abraham Lincoln gave his second Inaugural Address on March 4, 1865, as the Civil War was raging. He said, “Fondly do we hope — fervently do we pray — that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away.”

 

Lincoln’s next paragraph is especially appropriate for Veterans Day:

“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow and his orphan — to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.”

When President Lincoln finished his classic oration, he reportedly kissed the Bible and left the platform. He was assassinated the next month.

The freedoms we enjoy in this country did not come without sacrifice. The lady who stands on Liberty Island may be holding a tarnished lamp but the hope she stands for remains. The hearts of every American who thanks God each day for the greatness of America will keep that torch burning brightly. When the last soul falls to death and there is no one left to stand up for freedom for all, then the light will fade into darkness.

Here is hoping that day never comes.

Amazing Grace: There is Still a Need


William Wilberforce by Karl Anton Hickel, ca 1794. This weekend the long anticipated release of the motion picture “Amazing Grace’ opens chronicling the life of William Wilberforce, the British evangelical Christian who led the political movement against slavery in the 18th century.

The trading of souls in Willberforces time was a blight on America yet there still remains a stain on humanity today as many helpless souls are still trapped in modern slave trade. They too need a Willberforce to stand up and fight for them, their voices, like the slaves of old are silenced by calloused greedy people who profit off the misery and misfortune of others. Not until sin is eradicated from the planet and loving our neighbors as ourselves is put into practice will this world be free of the disgrace of slavery. Physical slavery is as real as spiritual slavery. Those who are bound by sin are in need of Amazing Grace as those who were physically bound by chains.

It is out duty as evangelical Christians to stand in the gap for the hopeless and downtrodden. We are to be the force for change in the world. We, as Wilberforce, can be the Amazing Grace to someone else today. As long as there are souls trapped in slavery there will always be a need for Amazing Grace.
