To all our service men and women who have ever wore an American uniform I salute your service and thank you for fighting for my freedom and the freedoms of all our countrymen. To me you embody the true spirit of America. A cause greater than self, freedom worth preserving, a nation worth defending, and a mission worth fighting.

Government Addiction the New Drug of the New Deal Generation


American Thinker posted this great piece describing our current financial state in America to that of a drug addict. How proper it is to use such an analogy. The addict will do just about anything to feed his/her habit, and it has become clear that our government will do the same to continue their addictive spending sprees.

The dealer hooks the addict on their wares and the addict continues patronize the dealer, thereby enabling the pusher to continue to push his/her poison until one or the other or both end up dead.

Oh how I wish I could hasten the demise of these pushers, thereby enabling the addict a chance at getting clean. Come this November I certainly plan to do my part to rid DC of as many drug pushers as possible with the pulling of the lever on the polling machine. I hope to pull that lever and flush a great deal of human excrement right out of the White House. Let’s face it folks DC needs an enema.

But let us not forget, America needs detoxification. For too long we have allowed ourselves to become addicted to government largesse and our addictions have taken control of our senses.

For the past hundred years, America has been slowly moving away from the principles of its founding. The ideals of liberty, individual achievement, limited government, and the equality of opportunity have been slowly supplanted by calls for security, class warfare, excessive regulation, and the equality of outcome. The passage of stimulus acts, bailouts, government takeovers of two U.S. automakers, and the health care overhaul prove that our movement away from 1776 has accelerated.

Over the past hundred years, we have slowly allowed a monstrous system of dependence to develop until nearly every citizen relies upon government money, and thus is an addict. This has come about because the hard logic of the Founders has been replaced by the seductive ease of emotional arguments. All too often, the debate is over not if government should do something, but what it should do. This almost imperceptible shift in our national philosophy is a manifestation of our addiction.

While the citizen-addict is hooked on government largesse, the politician-addict is hooked on something far more sinister: power. Their drug is available in Washington, D.C. Just as a dealer will go to any length to continue selling his wares, politicians will stop at nothing to retain their power. These two groups of addicts are locked in mutual co-dependence, where the politician-addict seeking re-election buys off the citizen-addict with more spending. Then the citizen-addict, seeking yet another free lunch from Washington, reelects the politician-addict. The result is endless, ever-expanding government programs and our current fiscal nightmare.

This is why America is lost. Too many Americans are hooked for us to return to a sound economic footing via the normal political processes. Our efforts to moderate the most radical agendas — welfare reform, for example — serve only to delay the inevitable. In fact, many of those reforms are quietly undermined as the slow march towards collapse continues. We cannot alter our current trajectory; expansive government, greater entitlements, and ever-increasing taxes are our fate. Attempts by responsible citizens at reform will be only partially successful, not changing the fundamentals of our dilemma.

Detoxing America will cause social, political, and economic strife of a sort unimaginable, and yet it is a process we must endure. Hitting bottom is our only hope for a national rehabilitation. It is our only chance for a true reacquaintance with those principles that made this the greatest nation on earth: liberty, individual achievement, limited government, and the equality of opportunity. Are Tea Parties Good for America?


The question is posed, are the tea parties good or bad for America? They are America!

From the founding of this great nation it has been our heritage to stand for and protect our freedoms, ordained under God, and preserved through the blood of those who fought and died for that freedom.

The original Tea Party took place in Boston, Dec. 16, 1773, when American Colonists dumped 342 containers of tea into the Boston harbor. Opposition to that Tea Party arose from the ruling political class much like it is today. The British Parliament retaliated by enacting a series of Intolerable Acts, these punitive acts where meant to force the colonists to acquiesce to British rule. Instead it only steeled the colonists in their resistance.

Economic and military tensions between the colonists and the British escalated when in February of 1775, a provincial congress was held in Massachusetts and began defensive preparations for a state of war. The colonists where not just going to lie down and acquiesce. This riled the English Parliament and they declared Massachusetts in a state of rebellion.

On March 23, 1775, a meeting of the colony’s delegates was held in St. John’s church in Richmond, Virginia. Resolutions were presented by Patrick Henry putting the colony of Virginia “into a posture of defense…embodying, arming, and disciplining such a number of men as may be sufficient for that purpose.” Before the vote was taken on his resolutions, Henry delivered his now famous speech imploring the delegates to vote in favor of the resolutions.

He spoke without any notes in a voice that became louder and louder, climaxing with the now famous ending. “Give me liberty or give me death.” The resolution passed and Virginia joined in the American Revolution.

Our own Declaration of Independence outlines the thought processes that led up to this American Revolution. It was the position of our founding fathers that America was going to be a free self-governing republic.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government.

This founding document of these great United States of America gives the right to self governance to the people, and proclaims it as our duty to preserve it and to leave to future generations a guardianship that will secure there liberty.

Many who now find themselves in peaceful, public protest of an out of control government have suffered quietly for many years. Enduring the abuse of power coming from the Federal Government, complaining to themselves but still going about their business. However, there comes a time when oppressive government regulation and taxation causes these once quiet people to take a stand and say enough is enough. The Boston Tea party and its present day namesake share one thing in common, an over reaching Government attempting to exert absolute rule over a free people.

It was never the intention of the founding fathers to set up an all powerful central government and specifically limited it’s powers by enacting the Constitution. This law of the land has served our country well, but alas it appears that not even the restrictions placed in the Constitution is able to hinder the rapid expansion of the Federal government as it attempts to regulate our very lives.

Enough was enough, just as the Tea Partiers of old, regular hard working American Citizens are standing up and taking action to protest, to this government, that we the people are not going to allow it, or any other political power, to take away our freedoms guaranteed under our founding documents.

So I ask you. Are tea parties good for America? I say they are America! So I, along with Patrick Henry and the signers of the declaration of independence, do hereby declare my support to my fellow countrymen, and stand with the tea party movement, so that together we can withstand this rise of tyranny within our midst. All creation is eagerly waiting for God to reveal who his children are. Creation was subjected to frustration but not by its own choice. The one who subjected it to frustration did so in the hope that it would also be set free from slavery to decay in order to share the glorious freedom that the children of God will have. For the commandments, You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Today is Earth Day, and I am hard pressed not to scream at the top of my lungs ENOUGH already! Last night my favorite show American Idol was overrun with environmentalist all trotting out the poor and sickly around the world with pleas for help. THROW them a life line they ask, while showing us pictures of poor souls dying from Malaria. The report goes on to say how many children are affected by this deadly disease and I want to scream… KILL THE MOSQUITOES and the disease will stop. BUT no because of Environmental policies enacted years ago these poor souls are allowed to die because the EPA decided that DDT was hazardous to birds. DDT is very effective at wiping out mosquito populations which would cut way down on the spread of malaria, HEY it worked in the United States didn’t it?

OH NO instead every year we will run ads showing sick kids dying of malaria and ask for money for mosquito nets. To an environmentalist I guess this makes sense. To a thinking caring person this is lunacy. Get to the source of the problem and eradicate it to protect the population. But no environmentalists would rather kill the population to save the planet. It would seem to me the environmentalist sees human beings as the pollutant that should be eliminated from the earth in order for the earth to return to it’s pristine state. There is nothing loving or caring about this approach. It would be far more loving to kill the mosquitoes than to watch loved ones die.

To add insult to injury, the segment addressing the aids problem in Africa was showcased by Ellen Degeneres and Annie Lennox (somewhat of a pop icon for the LBTG community). Annie did her segment while wearing an HIV Positive tee-shirt. Although not HIV positive herself she says she dons the apparel to highlight AIDS awareness. Annie got her iconic status from her earlier days with the Eurythmics when she would cross dress to protest the male dominance of the rock scene, the symbolism stuck. Perhaps the gay culture would be better served if she wore a Jesus saved me and he can save you too tee-shirt?

And then the United Nations Foundation promoting programs to help Haiti and to fight climate change and promote peace. But a recent report cited the UN with wasting 2/3rd of aid money feathering their own nests instead of tending to the needs of those they are given money to aid. But that did not stop them from being on Idol and asking America for more money.

Then there is the EPA asking us to RECYCLE all the time and yet one of their former policy administrators says that sometimes it just does not make GOOD SENSE to recycle everything, because the costs to the environment of recycling is worse than just disposing of it. Like any other government agency the EPA has to invent ways to stay relevant and thus a needed organization. They can not admit that their work is done so they need to continue to come up with pollutants and ways to battle them. So now they are on to man-made global warming and CO2 as a pollutant and let us not forget ’green energy’. Who ever would have thought the day would come when BREATHING was damaging the earth.

The ’green’ gospel

The whole ’GREEN MOVEMENT’ has become a religion in and of itself most of which is based on secular humanistic teachings and ideologies. This religion has worship and sacrifice and rewards and punishments. There are rituals to follow and creeds to recite. There are even offerings collected as last nights American Idol demonstrated.

Now I am all for helping my neighbor, but by helping I just do not want to help them stay alive in their situation. I want to see their situation change for the better, therefore it is necessary to tackle the bigger issues surrounding their lot in life. Most of the aid given to these countries is like throwing a rescue ring to a drowning man and leaving him in the water.

The founder of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation says churches should be wary of Earth Day environmentalism. The Rev. Calvin Beisner tells The Associated Press that while it is laudable to care for God’s creation, that should never become another “gospel” that diverts churches’ focus from preaching salvation in Jesus Christ. To this add a resounding AMEN!

The earth has been placed under a curse of sin and death ever since Adam disobeyed God in the garden. And until the time comes for the earth to be remade it will continue under this curse. In spite of all this there are still bright spots of hope. America and other wealthy nations are leading the way in setting an example that prosperity, and not government aid, is the best defense against environmental hazards. By helping a people out of poverty we elevate them to better care for themselves. Aiding them in poverty only adds to their helplessness. We need to give them a leg up and not simply a hand out.

To really save the earth however, we need to proclaim the gospel to every living creature. It is the power of the Gospel that is able to transform lives and make better citizens. So for earth day I say send missionaries and not money, preach the gospel of peace and not green peace, host prayer-a-thons instead of telethons and in so doing you can make a significant difference in the lives of others less fortunate than yourself. By giving them the light of life and the hope of eternity, you will have saved a soul and thus helped save the planet. Have a truly blessed Earth Day.
