4 Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

The Preamble to our Constitution reads: We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. The Constitution therefore was established with an express purpose of securing justice, domestic tranquility, defense, promote the well-being of its citizenry, and secure liberty now and into the future. How are we doing?

“Tocqueville began with a shocker: That the first political institution of American democracy is religion. His thesis went something like this: The premises of secular materialism do not sustain democracy, but undermine it, while the premises of Judaism and Christianity include and by inductive experience lead to democracy, uplift it, carry it over its inherent weaknesses, and sustain it.

[Because of its] own inherent tendencies, democracy tends to lower tastes and passions, to devolve into materialistic preoccupations, and to undercut its own principles by a morally indifferent relativism. Further, democracy left to itself tends to surrender liberty to the passion for security and equality, and thus to end in a new soft despotism, tied down with a thousand silken threads by a benign authority.”

🪨 Shelter in the Storm: Anchored in the Rock Before the Winds Rise


The winds howl. The headlines scream. Homes are shattered, hearts are heavy, and the world trembles beneath a thousand storms—natural, emotional, spiritual. And in the middle of it all, an old hymn whispers with unwavering faith:

Jesus is a rock in a weary land, a shelter in the time of storm.

This isn’t just poetic comfort—it’s spiritual survival. A Shelter in the Time of Storm, written in the late 1800s by Vernon Charlesworth, was born out of a world worn down by hardship. It became a lifeline sung by fishermen steering into stormy harbors, echoing through orphanages ministering to broken souls, and later reimagined by Ira Sankey to stir congregations across oceans. Its refrain is timeless—because the Rock it speaks of is eternal.

Storms will come. And when they do, it’s not doctrine or dogma that saves us—it’s Christ Himself. Scripture declares:

“The Lord has been our dwelling place in all generations… He is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.” (Psalm 90:1, 18:2)

But in the middle of the storm—when thunder drowns out reason and lightning blinds perspective—it’s difficult to fix your eyes on anything but the chaos. That’s why it’s vital to know the Rock before the storm hits. Calm seas are the classroom. Quiet days are the training ground. Every peaceful moment spent abiding in Him becomes a spiritual anchor when the winds rise.

When you know Jesus in the stillness, you recognize Him in the storm.
He’s not just refuge; He’s recognition.
Not just shelter; He’s strength.
Not just security; He’s sovereign.

And as the world reels from wildfires, floods, wars, and heartache—this hymn becomes a holy declaration: we are not unmoored. The storm may be raging, but the Rock is not shaking. In Him, we find not just protection—but peace.

So today, as tempests swirl around us, let this truth settle deep into your spirit:
Jesus is sure, sound, safe, and secure. He is your Shelter. He is your Storm-Calmer. He is your Rock—now and forever.

✈️ Cleared to Fly

What Caesar Demands, Christ Has Already Paid

> “You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.” —1 Corinthians 7:23

I stood in the airport of the so-called “free world,” holding a valid, state-issued driver’s license… and somehow, it wasn’t enough. A gold-starred “REAL ID” was now required for domestic flight—not as a suggestion, but as federal mandate.

Never mind that I’ve paid taxes, followed the law, verified my identity a dozen times over. Without that special endorsement, I was told I needed to return with more documents, more fees, and more evidence—just to board a plane in the country of my birth. 

And it hit me: freedom in America now comes with a price tag and a paper trail.

Meanwhile, individuals who break immigration laws, many charged with violent crimes, are not only released into our communities, but in some cases celebrated. Protesters march for their freedom. Pilgrimages are made to their holding centers. And the law enforcement officers tasked with keeping order? Swatted, demonized, pelted with rocks and policy restrictions.

We’ve flipped the script. We now punish the obedient while shielding the rebellious.

🪧 No Kings They Cried

This isn’t just bureaucratic madness—it’s biblical déjà vu.

When Jesus stood before Pilate, the crowd cried out, “Not this man, but Barabbas!”—choosing a convicted insurrectionist over the sinless Son of God. And when asked who their king was, they shouted: 

> “We have no king but Caesar!” (John 19:15)

Justice was sacrificed. Innocence was criminalized. 

The guilty walked free, and the righteous was condemned. 

Sound familiar?

Today, policies are being written that mirror that same spirit—calling good evil and evil good (Isaiah 5:20). They release chaos and restrain integrity. Law-abiding citizens are treated like potential threats, while true threats are dismissed for the sake of political expediency or cultural appeasement.

It’s happening again. And the people cheer while the truth is bound.

👑 The King Who Paid It All

But there is a King—one who doesn’t demand a laminated card, a fingerprint, or a gold star to accept me. He requires something far greater: perfection. And knowing I could never achieve it, He paid the price Himself. 

The flight I’m ultimately waiting for won’t depart from Gate A12. It won’t require clearance from TSA or documentation in triplicate. 

My name isn’t written in a database in Harrisburg—but in the Lamb’s Book of Life. 

Stamped not in ink, but in blood.

Yes, there’s an entrance exam. It’s called repentance. 

Yes, there’s a Judge—but He’s also the Advocate. 

Yes, there’s a reservation—and it’s already sealed.

I am cleared to fly, not because Caesar says so, but because Christ declared it finished.

🔊 The Trumpet Sounds Will You Heed the Call?

Let’s be plain: when a nation restricts the righteous and releases the lawless, it is no longer governing in justice—it’s ruling in rebellion. 

This is not freedom. This is fiction. 

And to those who cheer for those who break law while punishing those who uphold it, may I humbly offer a checkup from the neck up: 

You are living out the second crucifixion of righteousness—and calling it justice. You are freeing the insurrectionists of our day while kneecapping the peacemakers God appointed. 

God help us if we remain silent.

📯 Sound the Trumpet—The Gate Is About to Open

While America lights its skies with fireworks and boasts of freedom, let this message ring louder than any cannon blast:

> Caesar may demand your papers. Christ demands your soul. 

> And only one of them can offer you true freedom.

I will not be shackled by systems that punish citizenship while promoting chaos. 

I will not trade in a crown of life for a gold-starred card.

When that trumpet sounds, I won’t be stalled at security. 

I’ll be in the air, caught up, clothed in glory, and carried by grace. 

Because when the Son sets you free—you are free indeed. 

🕊️ Let every chain be broken, every truth proclaimed, and every trumpet sound.

Should Evangelical Christians Vote for Trump?

The bible really does have a lot to say about exercising your faith in all areas of life, that includes your civic duties to society. Not voting or voting contrary to biblical principles has ripple effects throughout the entirety of society, and therefore your exercising your civic duty should be taken very seriously and approached prayerfully.

 

Evangelical Christians come in a variety of categories on the subject of politics. These different categories will help explain why some Christians who love Jesus and believe the Bible can vote for a man like Donald Trump who is opposed to what the Bible says on so many biblical issues.

What Color is that Dress?

A recent cellphone snapshot of a dress went viral in the last week of February, going crazy on social media, and even being picked up by huge global news outlets like the BBC and The New York Times.

The controversy that drew in celebrities and senators, “melting the internet” was simple at first—was “the dress” blue and black, or white and gold? A simple question, but one that quickly divided the globe. (White and gold won in the polls, but the dress in question is blue and black.) Even scientists couldn’t agree on the phenomenon of vision that caused such stark visual differences. The consensus now, though is that how we perceive the color of the dress is much more related to how our minds process the “meaning” of the surrounding light—the calculations that our brains make to judge the effect that light has on color can create an optical illusion, in this case, fooling the tens of millions of people who saw the blue and black dress as white and gold.

Our viewpoints are shaped by our surroundings as well. There are opposing thoughts in our society as well. Some see things one way (black and blue) while others see things differently (white and gold). In the marketplace of ideas some issues not important when it comes to matters of life and death like the color of a dress; however there are issues that hold eternal consequences and as such it is important that you view the issue from the perspective of what is true and right.

Calling a black and blue dress white and gold does not matter unless you actually know what color the dress is and then go around telling everyone the opposite is true. Efforts to deceive others is as old as time itself, for since the foundations of the world were laid the battle for the hearts and minds of civilization has waged, with the forces of right competing with the forces of wrong. Those who see through the lens of a Christian world view are competing with those who view the world through a secular lens, and as such these two camps will often oppose each other. As Christians we are advised to walk in truth, and to speak truth in love. We are to find out what color the dress really is and then tell others the truth. We should not enter the arena of speculation nor postulate unproven theories, but rather stick to what is true and right.

So what color is the dress? Who cares? What is true and right? Now that is what really matters. Are you following those who are hell-bent on deceiving you and leading you down the path of lies and deception, or are you ever vigilant in your search for truth?

Jesus said that He was the right way, the truth and nothing but truth, and he was the light, the true light that shows exactly what color your heart is. Many saw the dress as white and gold but were later proven wrong when the dress was revealed as being actually blue and black. Just because the crowd happens to see things one way does not mean it is the right way.

14 I’m ready to visit you for a third time, and I won’t bother you for help. I don’t want your possessions. Instead, I want you. Children shouldn’t have to provide for their parents, but parents should provide for their children.

Remember Occupy Wall Street, when thousands across the country took to the streets, sleeping in tents to protest the ultra-rich 1 percent? The occupiers’ frustration was real, but their ire was misdirected. They should have launched an Occupy the AARP movement instead.

Sometimes we need a strong, hard slap in the face by truth to awaken us from our stupor. This topic is never an easy one to discuss but address it we must. Entitlement programs have bankrupted this country and statistically speaking it is no longer fiscally possible to support these programs and they are coming to an end, unless something is done to change the trajectory.

Politicians from both sides of the aisles are not willing to debate this issue, and to be honest those on the receiving end of these entitlement programs are not willing to give them up or even entertain any real changes. This is an issue that is taboo and like religion and politics makes enemies of those on opposing sides.

Address them we must because like all other wealth transfer programs the inerrant problem they all have in common is that they rely on other people’s money for support. As the economy grows worse for those who actually are stuck footing the bill it does not take a rocket scientist to understand that as the costs to keep up these programs continues to grow and the income of those who pay for them continues to decline we are on a collision course with disaster.

Live Long And Prosper

The “Trekkies” among us are mourning the death of actor Leonard Nimoy, whose cool and logical “Spock” is an iconic television hero. The alien character was known for his loyalty, self-sacrifice (when it computed, at least), and quiet curiosity, providing a counterpoint for the rash, slightly narcissistic Captain Kirk. The character’s popularity among fans is colossal—even today. “Spock” is a more recognizable name to many than “Leonard Nimoy.”

Nimoy’s craft of method acting meant that in many ways, he lived as Spock. The New York Times quotes Nimoy, saying “To this day, I sense Vulcan speech patterns, Vulcan social attitudes and even Vulcan patterns of logic and emotional suppression in my behavior,” Mr. Nimoy wrote years after the original series ended. But that wasn’t such a bad thing, he discovered. “Given the choice,” he wrote, “if I had to be someone else, I would be Spock.”

Nimoy became Spock through a long process that left a mark. Pretending to be someone else made a lasting impression upon Leonard Nimoy. As Christians we are told to be made into the likeness of Christ. We are to be patterning his life on earth. Our thoughts and actions should show the character of Christ. And as we imitate Jesus, acting as he would act, saying what he would say, are we able to see the same marks of change?

Rather than method acting, perhaps Nimoy and Spock can be for us an image of being made into the likeness of our savior. And you know? That’s the true way to “live long and prosper.”
