Matthew 23:3 (NIV) 3 So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

We have all heard the old adage concerning those who do not practice what they preach. It is the old do as I say not as I do routine. This ruse is used every instance an individual or group of individuals wish to tell you what you need to do but they exempt themselves from having to comply. One set of standards is to apply to one group of people and an entirely different set of standards will apply to another. This is the very definition of hypocrisy. These people love to parade around as being superior and in possession of a greater knowledge and understanding then the average person. They love to be looked up to and held in high esteem, while they dish out burdensome regulations to control the less than among us.
Matthew 23:5-7 (GW)
5 “They do everything to attract people’s attention. They make their headbands large and the tassels on their shawls long.
6 They love the place of honor at dinners and the front seats in synagogues.
7 They love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have people call them Rabbi.
An example, just one of many is the recent complaint of Union leaders and the IRS concerning their need to comply with Obamacare regulations. Remember these groups were heavy supporters of the Affordable Care Act when it was being forced upon the American people. They probably thought that they would be exempt from the mandates of this act since they were not the “common folk”.
The IRS is supposed to be the agency responsible for enforcing the (un)Affordable Care Act on everybody. But they want to make sure they get to keep their current coverage through the Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan (FEHBP).
One of the early promises from Obama regarding the healthcare plan that bears his name was that if you’re happy with your current insurance, you can keep it. Employees, small businesses and even many unions are finding out that that isn’t actually true, and they’re now opposing Obamacare on those grounds.
A group of unions appealed to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, complaining about Obamacare:
“When you and the President sought our support for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), you pledged that if we liked the health plans we have now, we could keep them. Sadly, that promise is under threat. Right now, unless you and the Obama Administration enact an equitable fix, the ACA will shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.
The IRS will be sure to work hard to force Obamacare on everybody and make sure everyone without exception is in perfect compliance with fees, fines and regulations, but they don’t want any part of it themselves.
“House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp offered a bill in response to these reports of congressional negotiations that would exempt lawmakers and their staff from Obamacare.
Camp spokeswoman Allie Walker said. “If the Obamacare exchanges are good enough for the hardworking Americans and small businesses the law claims to help, then they should be good enough for the president, vice president, Congress and federal employees.”
There you have it folks. A prime example of hypocrisy on full display. It is okay for the commoner to suffer the ill effects of Obamacare on personal wealth, the loss of hard-earned healthcare policies and a reduction in their work weeks.
You got to love it! Ah no we don’t
And that’s the way I see it. What say you?
This is a view from the nest. What say you?
Along for the journey
The talk of the town is the upcoming Presidential Debate tomorrow evening and as such I thought I would ponder what would happen if President Obama had to actually debate our founders. Here in their own words are their rebuttals to Obama’s many accusations.
Taxes and Debt
Obama likes to say: “Are we going to double-down on the top-down economic policies that helped to get us into this mess? Or do we embrace a new economic patriotism?”And in response we could note that Obama Tax that has effected every working American citizen since he took office. Median household income has declined by $4,520 (8.2 percent) across the board since this president took office. That is the Obama Tax already in place even before the Bush tax cuts are scheduled to expire on Jan 1 2013.
First up in response to taxes we turn to Thomas Jefferson:
“The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large-scale.” And if 6 trillion dollars in new deficit spending isn’t large-scale swindling I do not know what is.
Point for Jefferson.
Next up…
Obama’s It’s not my fault I inherited a crisis.
In the first debate Obama repeatedly invoked his now-familiar refrain about the financial crisis he “inherited”: “When I walked into the Oval Office, I had more than a trillion-dollar deficit greeting me. And we know where it came from…”
Yes we do actually. It’s true that the economy Obama inherited wasn’t the solid recovery that began some months after 9/11 under President George W. Bush and his Republican Congress. Instead, it was the gravely weakened economy of Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Harry Reid (D-NV) and their Democrat congressional majorities in both houses. On January 3, 2007, the date that the Democrat-controlled 110th Congress took office after a record 52 months of job growth accelerated by Bush administration tax cuts, unemployment was at 4.6 percent, and the economy was growing at three times the current rate.
Let’s turn to former President James Wilson for his response to Obama’s claims of inheriting a mess.
“[The President] is the dignified, but accountable magistrate of a free and great people.” –James Wilson
Ultimately it is the job of the President to look after the affairs of the state, and if he sees a problem it is his responsibility to discuss that problem. After all Obama asked us for the job of inheriting Bush’s fiscal mess. I guess he thought if Bush could get away with out-of-control spending then he could get away with even more.
Next up Jobs:
Obama will insist that the latest jobs numbers support his economic plan — “We found out the unemployment rate fell to its lowest rate since I took office. It’s a reminder this country has come too far to turn back now.”(in spite of all his efforts to shut it down completely)
Obama will then try to back-up his claim with another report from the Dept of Labor. A DoL report noting that weekly jobless claims dropped by 30,000 to a mere 364,000 new unemployment claims, lower than it was when Obama was elected —
But if you take time to read the fine print in the DoL data you will find this:
“One large state didn’t report some quarterly figures.” That “one large state” would happen to be the nation’s largest state, California, and a DoL analyst concluded that the “missing figures” account for most of the decline. ( in other words there was no decline, it was an accounting trick)
John Adams what do you have to say to this?
“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
Facts have never stopped a democrat before, and I am sure they will not stop Obama now.
Next up the 47% comment
Vice President Joe Biden couldn’t help himself but to hammer Paul Ryan with the 47% comment over and over as if to imply that the Romney Ryan ticket is not concerned about these people.
Let’s start by saying 47% of Americans pay no federal income taxes is correct, it also coincides with Obama’s current support in the polls — and that was the basis for Romney saying they will not support him and thereby he is not concerned about trying to reach them.
By contrast Obama believes 100 percent of Americans are dependent on government, as he made plain in his now-infamous assertion, ‘You didn’t build that. Somebody else [read: “government”] made that happen.’ The Democrat plan envisions that all Americans would be enslaved on the government plantation.” and looking to government for their needs to be met.
Benjamin Frankly chimes in with a response to this argument:
“Repeal that [welfare] law, and … industry will increase, and with it plenty among the lower people; their circumstances will mend, and more will be done for their happiness by inuring them to provide for themselves, than could be done by dividing all your estates among them.”
And this explains why democrats are always opposed to welfare reform. By changing welfare into workfare you enable an individual to mend their own circumstances and thusly they are no longer looking to the government for help. Well stated Ben.
You see folks Democrats could care less what hardships you face in life as long as you are dependent upon them to bring you limited relief. They do not wish to see you prosper but rather they want you to stay as you are or even get progressively worse, because by so doing they will increase in their own power and influence in your life, thus depriving you of liberty and making you a slave to the state. Republicans believe in personal freedom.
James Madison wanted to jump into this discussion with this:
“If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.”
Next up Foreign Policy
Obama is going to do his best to avoid any talk about Libya and the consulate raid and later deaths. The news outlets are falling all over themselves to find someone to pin the blame on but actually the buck stops with the White House and the commander-in-chief, Barry O.
Libya is just the latest symptom of a larger problem, and that is Obama’s appeasement of our enemies — from his apology tour following his election, to his continual snubbing of our most significant ally in the Middle East, Israel. He seems to have time to appear on many television programs and fund-raising tours but he can not seem to find the time to actually meet with foreign leaders to discuss the Middle East meltdown.
John Adams boldly condemns Obama on this issue when he said:
“National defense is one of the cardinal duties of a statesman.”
Yes indeed Mr Adams, I am sure fund-raising, golfing, family vacations, late night television appearances are just as important too! Right?
Oh there is more how about Fund-raising Irregularities?
The issue of illegal foreign and fraudulent on-line campaign donations is important, and yet another reason not to trust Obama.
What do you have to say about that Mr Adams?
“If an election … can be procured by a party through artifice or corruption, the Government may be the choice of a party for its own ends, not of the nation for the national good.” –John Adams
Our closing remarks on this debate are brought to you by none other than George Washington and Noah Webster.
“A few short weeks will determine the political fate of America for the present generation, and probably produce no small influence on the happiness of society through a long succession of ages to come.”George Washington
‘In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate — look to his character.’ Noah Webster
Our nation is at such a turning point and I ask us all to look at the character of the men who want to be our leaders and decide which one holds to the highest standard in personal conduct and character. Let prudence by your guide.
And that is the way I see it. What say you?
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has announced that she intends to push for national childcare reform, supposedly modeled after Obamacare
Pelosi started by recounting her own experience saying,
“‘I could never get a babysitter — have five kids in six years and no one wants to come to your house. … And everywhere I go, women say the same thing’ about how hard it is to find the kind of reliable care that would make their family lives calmer and work lives more productive.”
And of course her solution is MORE Federal Government. Personally I do not see why reform is needed just require children from BIRTH unto age 35 to go to a government-run institution (school) so that they can be instructed in the ways of liberalism. OH wait liberalism teaches that parents should KILL THEIR CHILDREN and not let them be born. Okay so if the abortion fails and they are actually born – no scratch that – liberals have a policy for that too, they let them die. Oh never mind!
Seriously folks what has happened to our country, to our culture, and to our families? To think that a parent, who has children, would be looking for someone else to raise them baffles my mind.
Can a woman forget her nursing child? Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb? Although mothers may forget, I will not forget you. Isaiah 49:15 (GW)
“Look, everyone who uses proverbs will say this proverb about you: Like mother, like daughter. You are the daughter of your mother, who despised her husband and children. You are the sister of your sisters, who despised their husbands and children. Ezekiel 16:44-45 (HCSB)
Being childless myself I would welcome an opportunity to raise a child or two or three. I do understand how difficult it is to afford to live in our over taxed, liberal utopia that the progressives have handed us. We have to labor almost 40% of our time to pay for government, its agencies and personnel and to think that many of them actually earn more than those who actually pay their wages. Not only must we labor to pay their salaries and benefits we must also labor to pay for their fat retirement plans. Since we labor so hard for the government it leaves little time to actually work for our families and secure their futures.
Our heritage is given up to men of strange lands, our houses to those who are not our countrymen. We are children without fathers, our mothers are like widows. We give money for a drink of water, we get our wood for a price. Our attackers are on our necks: overcome with weariness, we have no rest. We have given our hands to the Egyptians and to the Assyrians so that we might have enough bread. Our fathers were sinners and are dead; and the weight of their evil-doing is on us. Servants are ruling over us, and there is no one to make us free from their hands. Lamentations 5:1-8 (BBE)
With the national debt consuming our entire gross domestic product our children will be lifelong indentured servants of the state. They will not be able to acquire for themselves anything since their entire existence will be consumed by the state.
For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. 2 Corinthians 12:14 (HCSB)
Liberals hate conservatives because our solutions result in the person keeping more of their hard-earned money, as well as their property, and we promote allowing people to pursue their own happiness and not having the state steal their labor to give to someone who has not earned it. We believe parents should be responsible for raising their children and not the STATE, or like Hillary put it in her book, ‘It Takes a Village.’ No Pelosi and Clinton it takes a FAMILY.
Honor widows who have no families. The children or grandchildren of a widow must first learn to respect their own family by repaying their parents. This is pleasing in God’s sight. A widow who has no family has placed her confidence in God by praying and asking for his help night and day. But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead although she is still alive. Insist on these things so that widows will have good reputations. If anyone doesn’t take care of his own relatives, especially his immediate family, he has denied the Christian faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:3-8 (GW)
Liberal and progressive policies have assailed the family for decades and has led to the ruination of this great country. Parents are forced to choose between tending to their children or earning a living to pay the heavy burden of taxation placed upon them. The huge welfare state has practically destroyed the black families in America. Irresponsible behavior is rewarded while those who try to do the right thing are penalized by having their wealth stolen to be given to those who have become wards of the state. The poor would be far better off if they were encouraged to excel and not be manipulated by unjust government programs and policies.
The heritage of the good man is handed down to his children’s children; and the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the upright man. There is much food in the ploughed land of the poor; but it is taken away by wrongdoing. Proverbs 13:22-23 (BBE)
Father’s provide for your children! Mothers nurture and love your children! Children respect and honor your parents! And government get out-of-the-way of STRONG PRODUCTIVE families. Your system has failed and continues to fail which is why you are always asking for more, and begin more programs. God’s program works fine, how about we get back to doing things HIS way?
And by him the hearts of fathers will be turned to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers; for fear that I may come and put the earth under a curse. Malachi 4:6 (BBE)

Along for the journey
Robert Charles Winthrop (1809–1894), an American philanthropist, congressman from Massachusetts, and one-time Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, stated “Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without them; either by the Word of God or by the strong-arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet.” We find ourselves in the state we are in because of the choices we made in the past. We chose to place our trust in the tyrannical arm of a central government rather than the strong-arm of a benevolent God.The only way back from total tyranny is total surrender to God. For blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Ps 33:12 http://amplify.com/u/bs3c0
