Taking a look into the teachings and writings of Islam gives us a better understanding of this "religion of peace". What does the Quran and the traditions and classical law teach us about Islam?

In order to defeat an enemy it is important to understand the enemy and what motivates them. How they think and how they operate are important when designing a strategy of defense. Understanding the why and the how are important in formulating battle plans to defeat the enemy.

Take some time to go into the enemies camp and get to know their rules of engagement before engaging them in battle.

A Quick World War I History Lesson for ISIS

ISIS militants seem to be discussing the finer points of the Sykes-Picot agreement. Not surprisingly, they’re wrong about it.

Sourced through Scoop.it from: dailysignal.com

Getting history wrong is problematic when it comes to foreign diplomacy. What is ISIS after? Why are they so hell-bent on expansionism? Is this something new or a repeat of something old? Taking a look at the Middle East prior to WWI gives us a better indication as to what ISIS is up to and what their end game is.

Lawlessness and brute force seem to be driving the political agenda today. Instead of mutual respect and civil agreements being hammered out through diplomacy, malcontents are using bully tactics and creating chaos to further their agenda. They are not content to live and let live they desire to force their will upon any who resist their expansionists desires.

Like Solomon said there really is nothing new under the sun, what is, once was, and will be again.

Educate yourself on what has been before and is coming again. One thing is certain Jesus who was and is, is coming again real soon. I hope anyway.

Islam is a religion of violence: abstract theology matters

How can we explain ISIS? Instead of a God who loves from all eternity, Islam offers a God who demands submission. And that looks violent on the ground.

Although this is not an indepth study of the issue it surely lends itself to thoughtful consideration. Taking the religion of Islam at it’s base points and compare it to Christianity at it’s base point we see there is a vast difference in the two. Jesus said a good tree can not produce bad fruit nor a bad tree produce good fruit. Neither can bitter water flow from a sweet well. By their fruit you shall know them.

Even modern idioms have this one right if we recall the old saying one bad apple spoils the bunch. There is something rotten in the middle east and it is rapidly growing rotten fruit and as a result the rotten fruit is polluting everything it comes in contact with.

How the Left is Seeking to Nationalize the Christian Church and Institutions

Nationalizing institutions seems to be increasingly popular in America. The auto, energy, and health care industries are already largely taken over either outright or covertly brought under government control by means of onerous government regulations and the eternally vigilant bureaucratic leviathan. Apparently, even the environment is to be nationalized, what with the EPA and the global warming theorists seeking to control the water we use, the substances we utilize for energy and even the very air we breathe.

However, the creeping nationalization of America’s churches and their institutions has been less noted. But the current attempts by the Left to nationalize American churches, their institutions and properties is ongoing, with separation of church and state as defined by the Left rapidly becoming a handy tool used for government appropriation of American churches and for taking over church institutions such as hospitals, colleges, private schools, and charities.

The third chapter of second Timothy pretty much covers this topic in depth and I strongly suggest my Christian brothers and sisters take the time to read it through thoroughly, but let me summarize it by quoting just two verses:

12  Those who try to live a godly life because they believe in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13  But evil people and phony preachers will go from bad to worse as they mislead people and are themselves misled.

Scripture warns that in the last days scoffers would arise and attempt to take over the Christian church by means of false teaching and by twisting the teachings of Christ to reflect a secular world view, These people will try to appear as Godly but will lack any appearance of a life changed by an encounter with the true and living God. They will be lovers of pleasure and of self, eager to gain monetarily, will slander anything or anyone that is good, and be immovable in their opposition to all things Christian, They will distort the scriptures to suit their own earthly and fleshly desires rather than allow the scriptures to transform their carnality and renew their  thinking into that of Christ.

As this onslaught continues not only in America but throughout the world what is the church to do? Stand firm and be ready to  endure the persecution that is headed straight for you. Remember the Apostle Paul’s example as he withstood severe persecution. Look to the author of our faith Jesus Christ as an example of how to deal with those who oppose you.

Listen to what Paul tells Timothy to do when this time  comes to the church:

2 Timothy 3:14-17 (GW)
14  …continue in what you have learned and found to be true. You know who your teachers were.
15  From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures. They have the power to give you wisdom so that you can be saved through faith in Christ Jesus.
16  Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval.
17  They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things.

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God for salvation to all who would believe, and it is the only rock upon which you can stand firm against any onslaught. Remember to live is Christ and to die is gain. If the life you live is led by Christ himself.

Stand firm  and see the salvation of the Lord! Oh yes the onslaughts are only going to get worse as Satan sees his time is running out. He will stop at nothing to attempt to eradicate any resemblance of God in the earth, but his destiny is sure and his future is a lake of fire  prepared by God.

Jesus said to Peter that upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Jesus is that solid rock all other ground is sinking sand.

Criminalizing Scientific Controversy: Climate Change, Galileo, and Our Modern Inquisition

The proposed federal investigation into those who question man-made climate change is more dangerous to science than the Inquisition.

Sourced through Scoop.it from: www.thepublicdiscourse.com

In a remarkable letter to President Obama, twenty climate scientists have called for a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation into “corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change.” They support their position by claiming that “an overwhelming majority of climate scientists are convinced about the potentially serious adverse effects of human-induced climate change on human health, agriculture, and biodiversity.”

The notion that a criminal investigation should be used to arbitrate a scientific dispute is antithetical to the proper norms of scientific inquiry. Whether or not there is intended deception is irrelevant, because the validity of a scientific theory is independent of one’s motivation for affirming the theory. Moreover, an overwhelming majority of scientists favoring a particular position does not provide scientific support for that position. There was universal support for Newton’s laws for over two centuries, but it only took one dissenter to supersede them.

Worse than the authors’ nonscientific approach to scientific disputation is their effort to bring down the machinery of the state on their opponents. It has taken centuries for science to free itself from domination by the state. It was not long ago that the opponents of Trofim Lysenko were crushed by Stalinist oppression. The authors might argue that they only want an investigation. If so, do they really expect that potential criminal investigations would not have an adverse effect on free inquiry?

It is instructive to compare the RICO letter to a letter written 400 years earlier by Tommaso Caccini and delivered to the Congregation of the Holy Office (the Inquisition) on March 20, 1615. Caccini argued that the Copernican heliocentric theory that the planets orbit about a fixed sun is incompatible with the Bible and informed the Inquisition that Galileo had advocated this theory. On February 26, 1616, the Inquisition ordered Galileo “to abstain altogether from teaching or defending the said opinions and even from discussing them.” Galileo submitted to the decree and avoided prison.

There are similarities between the proposed RICO investigation and the trial of Galileo.

– In both, the accusers argue that they have the support of the majority of scientists. In the case of Copernicus, even the great Tycho Brahe rejected the heliocentric theory. By the time of Galileo, the theory had gained more support, including from Johannes Kepler.

– In both, the accused would be brought to trial under laws giving the prosecution wide latitude of interpretation.

– In both, the charge is essentially heresy against what Francis Bacon called the Idols of the Theater—uncritical acceptance of dogma and popular theories.

– In both, conviction would result in imprisonment.

– In both, the accusers claim there is great societal risk in not taking their position. In the case of Galileo, it was credibly argued that rejecting the geocentric theory would undermine the faith, thus undermining the moral order, and thereby leading to societal breakdown. The argument takes on great urgency when one realizes that from Caccini’s accusation to Galileo’s conviction spanned the period of 1615 to 1633 and that the Thirty Years War ran from 1618 to 1648, a war resulting in population declines of up to a third in parts of the Holy Roman Empire.
