Bait and Switch: In Pursuit of YOUR Happiness

noun
: a selling method in which a customer is attracted by the advertisement of a low-priced product but then is encouraged to buy a more expensive one
  1. :  a sales tactic in which a customer is attracted by the advertisement of a low-priced item but is then encouraged to buy a higher-priced one
2 : the ploy of offering a person something desirable to gain favor (as political support) then thwarting expectations with something less desirable

“If your child asks you for bread, would any of you give him a stone? 10 Or if your child asks for a fish, would you give him a snake? 11 Even though you’re evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him? Matthew 7:9-11 (GW)

Bait and switch” is a well-known deception used by con artists who promise a non-existent good deal and then switch to what they call a better deal that is neither needed nor desired by their “mark.”

Our health care political hucksters are the latest to try this shameful stunt. They told  us, repeatedly, “You can keep your plan and your doctor if you like them, I promise, period!

But with the new law being implemented we find that, all along, it was written in such a way that possibly millions will have no alternative but to switch to different government-mandated, undesired plans.

In response, some ranking politicians say it’s all for our own good, which reminds us of their end game — to implement a “single payer system” managed by the federal government. It will then be obvious that there is no escape from the government-mandated plan whether you like your plan or not.

They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you. 2 Peter 2:19 (NLT)

This is not the first time nor will it be the last time that “big government” will promise some grand idea that is supposed to make life better for those who are forced to take part. There is a long list of broken promises and “bait and switch” programs that have proven to be “not as advertised”.

ObamaScare’s House of Horrors

Just when you thought it was safe, after having been lulled to sleep, the nightmares are about to begin.

Universal's House of Horrors

Something wicked this way comes hiding deep inside the belly of the beast we know as ObamaScare. Whether or not the website problems get fixed there is no escape from this horror show coming to your house.  This nightmare will have you missing sleep for many days to come.

By now almost everyone has heard the horror stories since the roll-out of ObamaScares sign-up began. Well fasten your seat-belts because the horror show has just started and there are many more scarey stories to come. If you have not been sufficiently scared off by the initial phase of the ObamaScare road show, brace yourself for even greater horrors to come.

First up huge deductibles:
When consumers finally do get onto the Healthcare.gov website, they are in for a new kind of sticker shock. Avik Roy of the Manhattan Institute has exposed the high cost of Obamacare premiums — the next price shock will be the whopping cost of the deductibles.A Chicago Tribune analysis showed that 21 of the 22 lowest-priced plans offered for Cook County residents on the Illinois exchange have annual deductibles of more than $4,000 for an individual and $8,000 for family coverage.(Deductibles are the money consumers must spend on health care before most insurance benefits kick in.)

The huge deductibles along with the hefty premiums turns what once was a health insurance plan into a self-insurance plan. When you add up the premiums you must pay, and then add in the huge deductible, plus the additional out-of-pocket expense to pay the co-pay in any given year it maybe cheaper to simply pay for your health expenses as they occur and put the premiums you would have paid into a HSA (health savings account) for future expenses. But since Obamascare is now a MANDATE and you MUST buy a policy you are being forced to part with your money to essentially get absolutely nothing in return. Why are these premiums so high, this policy design is a direct result of the law’s instructions about the percentage of average health costs that insurance must cover (60 percent for Bronze, up to 90 percent for Platinum plans).

ObamaScare #2 Will people pay?

The Congressional Budget Office expects 7 million people to enroll in health insurance through the exchanges by 2014, and it needs about 2.7 million of them to be “young healthies” who will enroll, and pay premiums that are higher than their age or health status would warrant because of the law’s regulations. Enough Americans may enroll, but will they keep up with their premiums month after month?

The first month of the new health law’s rollout reveals an unexpected pattern in several states: a crush of people applying for an expansion of Medicaid and a trickle of sign-ups for private insurance.

This early imbalance — in some places, nine out of 10 enrollees are in Medicaid — has taken some experts by surprise. I guess they really where not experts after-all if they could not have foreseen that the FREE MEDICAID plans would see an influx of sign-ups while the EXPENSIVE private-care plans would not. I personally believe that this was the plan all along, to make it as easy for people to sign-up for the FREE PLAN and as difficult and unaffordable as possible for everyone else because the end game is to get everyone under a Federally run and administered health-care plan.

Low enrollment in private insurance, meanwhile, could increase premiums as it would likely indicate that only sick people, who really need coverage, were signing up. And the experts could not foresee this? Really those of us who are not experts knew this was going to happen.

ObamaScare #3 Attracting the sickest:

Sicker Americans, with high health costs, are the ones most determined to get through the Healthcare.gov website to enroll. If they dominate enrollment, premiums will have to rise in 2015, discouraging even more young healthies from applying in the future. The industry calls this a “death spiral.”

Again couldn’t the experts predict this? I believe they did know all this and it did not matter because once again this whole nightmare is not about providing the best possibly program for the most American citizens, the current private-sector programs would not have been tampered with, what it is about is gaining control of an individuals health-care.

Thousands get health insurance cancellation notices

Oct. 18, 2013 at 2:55 PM ET Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, …
Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies.

The main reason insurers offer is that the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. The new policies supposedly will offer consumers better coverage, in some cases, for comparable cost — especially after the inclusion of federal subsidies for those who qualify.  Now that is a big caveat, if you do not qualify for a federal  subsidy (read taxpayer support) then your premiums will most likely be much higher.

So now you are not only paying for your own plan, plus those who are already on Medicaid, now you are going to be asked to help pay for your neighbors plans as well. Face it folks we are being seen as a REVENUE source and not as individual human beings with lives. We are being subjected to this tyranny. The law requires policies sold in the individual market to cover 10 “essential” benefits, such as prescription drugs, mental health treatment and maternity care, whether you need them or not.  That’s right guys your policies will now have to cover your maternity care. What you say you do not need maternity care? Too bad you will have to buy it anyway.

In addition less expensive alternative plans are being outlawed.

ObamaScare #4 Less Expensive Plans Vanish

As previously stated since these “catastrophic” health plans do not contain the “required” basic coverages they are not permitted to be sold. And despite Obama’s continued claims that if you like your policy you can keep your policy, you can not.

ObamaScare #5 Families lose out:

Obamacare’s subsidies will mean that the federal tax code’s existing marriage penalty will get much bigger for certain Americans, especially older, middle-income couples. Families will have to reckon with the fact that remaining married could cost them $10,000 a year or more because single people with lower incomes qualify for bigger subsidies.

ObamaScare #6 More Jobs to be lost:

The Obama administration delayed for a year reporting requirements for the mandate that companies provide health insurance for their employees. But with those provisions coming into effect in 2015, employers will continue to restructure their businesses to stay under 50 employees and push workers under 30 hours a week to avoid the hefty fines that will be used to enforce this regulation.

Andrew Puzder, chief executive of CKE Restaurants, wrote in The Wall Street Journal that “the evidence that Obamacare is having a negative impact on hiring is unequivocal, abundant and consistent with common sense.” Job creation will continue to suffer.

ObamaScare #7 Identity Theft and Fraud will explode

Tens of thousands of “navigators,” “assisters,” and other agents are being hired, generally by nonprofit organizations, to help people apply. They will be gathering personal information, such as one’s Social Security number, address, income, employer’s name and address, children’s names and birthdates, and health habits, to find out if you qualify for Obamacare subsidies. Others are going door-to-door to get people enrolled, and there is no easy way of determining if the person at your door is legitimate. While these aides do receive some training, they’re not professionally licensed and don’t go through the background checks required of insurance agents and brokers. Even temporary census workers had to meet tougher standards.

The Obama Administration itself is warning that con artists will take advantage of confusion over the law to steal people’s identities.Beyond the potential for one-on-one fraud, security may be inadequate in the giant government “data hub.” This warehouse of detailed personal information of everyone in the exchanges will be available to people in many different government agencies. The security of that database still has not been independently tested and verified. The risks of potential identity theft are very real, and 13 attorneys general have expressed deep concerns about the security of the exchanges’ information. When this starts happening, it will generate a new wave of negative coverage of the law.

ObamaScare #8 Repaying Federal Subsidies

It’s going to be very important to accurately indicate annual income on one’s insurance application. Those who understate income, either because their situation changes or they reported inaccurate information, and therefore get a larger subsidy than they are entitled to will be required to repay the excess, possibly amounting to thousands of dollars. And since the IRS is in charge of enforcing compliance you can see how this is going to end badly for the individual

ObamaScare #9 Losing your Doctor

To keep rates from going even higher, insurance companies have limited the doctors and hospitals patients can visit.

Many insurers have opted to limit their selection of doctors in some exchange plans to keep premiums and other costs down. And they are also excluding large academic medical centers, which are often pricier because they tackle sicker patients and more complex cases.

“The sticker price will be lower if the number of options are lower,” said Joe Mondy, a spokesman with Cigna (CI, Fortune 500), which is participating in five state exchanges. “The issue is how many options can you do without?”

For example, WellPoint (WLP, Fortune 500), a Blue Cross Blue Shield insurer that offers policies in 14 states, is narrowing its networks in many markets after research showed consumers care more about the price than the provider.

In areas with a heavy concentration of doctors, WellPoint might offer Obamacare plans with only half the number of doctors available in its off-exchange plans, said Colin Drozdowski, vice president of provider engagement and contracting. But where there’s less choice, the network might be only 10% to 20% smaller.

Insurers are also restricting participants access to doctors through HMO plans that don’t offer out-of-network benefits. So patients have to stick to a certain set of physicians and hospitals or foot the full bill themselves.

Alice it does nothing it only makes you feel better  that you actually talked to someone. They are not concerned about you and your well being.

President Obama said that buying insurance through the exchanges would be like shopping at Amazon.com. We all know how “truthful” Obama is by now right? Instead of simply clicking a few buttons online, many people will spend hours following up with phone calls, emails, and faxes. As recently as two weeks ago, government software couldn’t reliably tell people the correct price for their insurance or their subsidies. Again all of this is by design, because the end result is the government wants as many people enrolled in a Federal Insurance plan like Medicaid so as to make it almost impossible for any future congress to end the program. This nightmare is going to have more sequels  then Freddy Kruger.

Standing Strong in the Face of Adversity: That is true leadership

Exodus 17:11-12 (GW)
As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel would win, but as soon as he put his hands down, the Amalekites would start to win. Eventually, Moses’ hands felt heavy. So Aaron and Hur took a rock, put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron held up one hand, and Hur held up the other. His hands remained steady until sunset.

English: Ted Cruz at the Republican Leadership...

Sen. Ted Cruz ended his nearly day-long

filibuster at noon Wednesday, having held the chamber floor for more than 21 hours straight, etching his place in the record books with the fourth-longest filibuster in Senate history. He stood on the floor to fight for the American people who wish that “Obamacare” would be eliminated from their lives.

The Texas Republican took control of the floor at 2:41 Tuesday afternoon and only relinquished it at noon Wednesday because of rules that required the Senate to officially reconvene and conduct a session-opening prayer, then wait an hour and hold a vote at 1 p.m. on whether to begin debating a stopgap spending bill.

via Ted Cruz enters record books with 21-hour filibuster – Washington Times.

It is refreshing to see someone actually taking a stand to fight against something they wholeheartedly oppose. I know many folks who would complain if they had to work a 14 hour day let alone speak for over 21 hours non-stop. Can you imagine a church service lasting 21 hours? It actually happened at least once in church history.

Acts 20:7-11 (BBE)
And on the first day of the week (Sunday), when we had come together for the holy meal, Paul gave them a talk, for it was his purpose to go away on the day after; and he went on talking till after the middle of the night. And there were a number of lights in the room where we had come together.
he went on talking to them for a long time, even till dawn, and then he went away.

In most of the churches I have attended there is a tendency to start checking one’s watch as the noon hour approaches. I can not imagine a group of people actually sitting through a long-winded preacher who went on and on and on until the next morning. But that is exactly what Paul did and like wise Senator Ted Cruz spoke all night long and into the next day because he had something on his heart and mind he wanted to discuss. He did not have a very large audience for his speech but that did not stop him from standing tall and strong. After all he was fighting for a worthy cause, the defunding of Obamacare.

There are defining moments in life

There are times when we need to take a stand and, against all odds, we must continue to engage the enemy, and argue our cause until  victory is won, or we die trying to attain it.

This was the resolve of our founding fathers who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honors in support of the Declaration of Independence. And many lost their lives and fortunes defending it.

What do we see today, 237 years after the penning of our founding document, elected leaders unwilling to defend the Constitution of these United States. Instead they rail against “we the people” who believe, like the signers of the Declaration, that these States are and of right ought to be free and independent of parliamentary government control.

Ted Cruz took to the floor of the house, aided by Senators Marco Rubio and Mike Lee, who took turns asking questions to spell Cruz who remained in control of the floor.

Some battles are hard-fought and requires others to help us stand firm.

Moses and the Israelites were facing a menacing attack from the Amalekites and as long as Moses stood firm with his hands up Israel would win, but if he put his hands down the enemy would start to win.

We are fighting an entrenched enemy that is waging war against anyone who tries to stop them. Ted Cruz with the aid of Rubio and Lee stood  strong.

This is not the end of the fight but only the beginning of many battles that will need to be fought. We must hang together folks or most assuredly we will all hang separately.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

To my Christian brothers and sisters I ask you when was the last time you were part of an all-night prayer vigil? When was the last time you attended a service were the preacher preached all night long? Is there anything important enough, any evil vile enough to arouse you to prayer? Is there any battle worthy of your time and energy? Is there anything more important then work and play that will cause you to take a stand, even if it requires you remain steadfast for days?

I am afraid that too many of us fail to see the importance of remaining steadfast and always abounding toward prayer. Too many I feel do not see the great spiritual battle that is being waged for the soul of America.

How did we get here you may ask?

Sir Edmund Burke is quoted as saying: “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent” he further stated that “bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny.”

We got here because men and women of good conscience did not speak up against bad law, which led to ever-increasing tyranny. Obamacare is not the fist bad law passed by an unaccountable congress, but it is the latest in a series of bad laws and one that most be defeated.

Christians we remained seated and silent far too long. Now we must take a stand. We may not win the fight but we ought to at the very least engage the enemy don’t you think?

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

Edmund Burke

What can I do you may ask?

Well that is simple start by praying for your elected leaders and support those who are fighting in the trenches on your behalf. Stand firm against tyranny and make your voice heard on social media and in public places. Organize an all night prayer meeting to fight against the spiritual forces that are attacking our nation and targeting Christians in particular.

When Edward Everett Hale was chaplain of the U.S. Senate, someone asked him, “Do you pray for the senators, Dr. Hale?” He replied, “No, I look at the senators and pray for the country.” To which I say a resounding amen Dr Hale. All one needs do is look and listen to most of today’s Senators and we should all be moved to pray for America.

Pray like Thomas Aquinas:

Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart, which no unworthy affection may drag downwards; give me an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; give me an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside.Thomas Aquinas

And then stand with the likes of a Ted Cruz or Mike Lee or anyone else who has taken a stand against tyranny. Hold up their hands so the battle may be one. This requires the devoutness of the Saints. Like our ancestors before us let us pledge to each other our lives, fortunes and sacred honor to stand up and fight for our God-given right to be free.

And that is the way I see it, what say you?

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Matthew 23:3 (NIV) 3  So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

Barack Obama signing the Patient Protection an...

We have all heard the old adage concerning those who do not practice what they preach. It is the old do as I say not as I do routine. This ruse is used every instance an individual or group of individuals wish to tell you what you need to do but they exempt themselves from having to comply. One set of standards is to apply to one group of people and an entirely different set of standards will apply to another. This is the very definition of hypocrisy.  These people love to parade around as being superior and in possession of a greater knowledge and understanding then the average person. They love to be looked up to and held in high esteem, while they dish out burdensome regulations to control the less than among us.

Matthew 23:5-7 (GW)
5  “They do everything to attract people’s attention. They make their headbands large and the tassels on their shawls long.
6  They love the place of honor at dinners and the front seats in synagogues.
7  They love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have people call them Rabbi.

An example, just one of many is the recent complaint of Union leaders and the IRS concerning their need to comply with Obamacare regulations. Remember these groups were heavy supporters of the Affordable Care Act when it was being forced upon the American people. They probably thought that they would be exempt from the mandates of this act since they were not the “common folk”.

The IRS is supposed to be the agency responsible for enforcing the (un)Affordable Care Act on everybody. But they want to make sure they get to keep their current coverage through the Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan (FEHBP).

One of the early promises from Obama regarding the healthcare plan that bears his name was that if you’re happy with your current insurance, you can keep it. Employees, small businesses and even many unions are finding out that that isn’t actually true, and they’re now opposing Obamacare on those grounds.

A group of unions appealed to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, complaining about Obamacare:

“When you and the President sought our support for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), you pledged that if we liked the health plans we have now, we could keep them. Sadly, that promise is under threat. Right now, unless you and the Obama Administration enact an equitable fix, the ACA will shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.

The IRS will be sure to work hard to force Obamacare on everybody and make sure everyone without exception is in perfect compliance with fees, fines and regulations, but they don’t want any part of it themselves.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp offered a bill in response to these reports of congressional negotiations that would exempt lawmakers and their staff from Obamacare.

Camp spokeswoman Allie Walker said. “If the Obamacare exchanges are good enough for the hardworking Americans and small businesses the law claims to help, then they should be good enough for the president, vice president, Congress and federal employees.”

There you have it folks. A prime example of hypocrisy on full display. It is okay for the commoner to suffer the ill effects of Obamacare on personal wealth,  the loss of hard-earned healthcare policies and a reduction in their work weeks.

You got to love it! Ah no we don’t

And that’s the way I see it. What say you?

Finally Someone Showing True Leadership

Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. (Isaiah 55:4)

Senator Ted Cruz wants to defund ObamaCare or defund the government.

The House has already passed a continuing resolution that would avert a government shutdown set to take place on March 27th, the date that the Continuing Appropriations Resolution of 2013 expires.

Now, the CR is in the Senate where Senator Ted Cruz offered up an amendment that would remove any funding for the implementation of Obamacare.

Of course, since the Democrats are all good team players, and since they control the Senate, the amendment failed. But Senator Ted Cruz pointed out that if the Senate ends up making any changes to the continuing resolution, they’d have to send it back to the House, and when they do, the GOP should add an amendment like his that would defund Obamacare. That way, the President and the Democrat-controlled Senate are left with the option to either defund Obamacare or let the government shut down. Their choice.

Senator Cruz is playing the game, and he’s playing it well. But others aren’t being good team players. Boehner doesn’t want to defund Obamacare. He says he promises he’ll work on repealing it later, but not now:

CNS News pointed out that the GOP has voted to defund/repeal Obamacare on 30 different occasions, but not on legislation that had to pass. In other words, they were no more than symbolic moves on the GOP part to make their constituents happy, knowing that their actions would have no real effects. But at least they could secure their re-elections and increase their popularity by telling their voters that they voted to repeal Obamacare. But every time a piece of legislation has to pass to keep the government funded (like the CR), the GOP decides not to touch Obamacare.

This has been the game in the GOP controlled house since Boehner has been the Speaker of the House. You would think he was playing on the same team as Obama. The Democrats whether they are in control of the house or not will stop at nothing to push their agenda. They even go as far as shutting down the White House tours to politicize the Sequester.

The Democrats never relent on their agenda to redistribute your wealth to their constituents. And what do the Republicans do? Nothing of substance. Their refusal to take it to Obama is why they continue to lose. (McCain and Romney)

Along comes freshman Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and even Rand Paul who are actually taking it to the Democrats and what do they get for this? Attacks by senior members of the ruling class. Their own party belittles them and dismisses them and yet they are the only ones who are standing up against the Obama agenda and the Democrat political machine, the rest are simply complicit.
I like Ted Cruz’s approach to defund Obamacare by attaching it to the Continuing Resolution. Since the Democrats can not produce a budget, and it seems they are unable to curb their desire to keep spending money they do not have hence the need for a CR, the only solution is to force the Democrats to make cuts aka the Sequester and now the CR bill.
Obviously the Democrats do not think they have enough money to keep the White House open for tours and since Obama feels there needs to be drastic cuts then why not cut out the BIGGEST UNFUNDED mandate to be enacted in recent years, Obamacare? Obama admits there is not enough money to run the government so how is it that there is enough money to add an entirely new mandate when Medicare and Social Security are both running in the red and the Post Office is showing continued revenue losses?
I stand with Ted Cruz it is time someone takes it right to the Democrats and starts playing by their rules. Way to go Ted!
And that is the way I see it. What say you?
