There is More to Christmas than Santa Claus

Christmas in the post-War United States

Image via Wikipedia

In the United Kingdom, which tends to be a barometer of coming religious trends in America, only 4% of adults in the emerging generation of adult leaders (ages 25 to 34) believe the most important part of Christmas is its religious meaning.

Let us not forget why we are celebrating. “Born unto you this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)

Without Christ there is no “Christ”mas. Without the light of the world, we would all be living in darkness. Without the Prince of Peace there will be no peace on earth. Without the Hope of the Nations, there remains hopelessness. Without tidings of great joy, all we would have is sorrow.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14 (KJV)

In Defense of the LGBT Community

Indeed, let God btrue but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.” Romans 3:4 (NKJV)

I am growing weary with the constant barrage of acronyms flooding our language lexicon, and the secular humanists redefining the terms and manipulating our language to advance their agenda. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and redefine one of their terms by taking an acronym of theirs and repurposing it to reflect a Christian centric world view. I chose to use the acronym LGBT and I will define it thusly: Let God Be True… and every man a liar.

It is interesting to note that the discussion of persecution was raised by none other than Hillary Clinton in her defense of the LGBT community. It would seem there is a large-scale effort to protect a certain segment of society against persecution.

Speaking at a United Nations event in recognition of International Human Rights Day, Clinton pulled no punches in her defense of LGBT rights. She referred to the LGBT people as “human beings born free [with] equality and dignity” and said their struggle for rights is “one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time.”

To which I give an enthusiastic two thumps up! Well said Mrs Clinton. In fact I wholeheartedly agree.

Most satisfying, Clinton firmly rejected the idea that bias against LGBT people based on cultural or religious norms is acceptable in any nation.

“Now, raising this issue, I know, is sensitive for many people and that the obstacles standing in the way of protecting the human rights of LGBT people rest on deeply held personal, political, cultural, and religious beliefs,” Clinton said. “So I come here before you with respect, understanding, and humility. Even though progress on this front is not easy, we cannot delay acting.” In her remarks Mrs Clinton stated:

Today, I want to talk about the work we have left to do to protect one group of people whose human rights are still denied in too many parts of the world today. In many ways, they are an invisible minority. They are arrested, beaten, terrorized, even executed. Many are treated with contempt and violence by their fellow citizens while authorities empowered to protect them look the other way or, too often, even join in the abuse. They are denied opportunities to work and learn, driven from their homes and countries, and forced to suppress or deny who they are to protect themselves from harm.

I am talking about LBGT people, human beings born free and given bestowed equality and dignity, who have a right to claim that, which is now one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time. Many LGBT Americans have endured violence and harassment in their own lives, and for some, including many young people, bullying and exclusion are daily experiences. So we, like all nations, have more work to do to protect human rights at home.

It is not often I find myself in agreement with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton but I nod my head in agreement with these remarks. I agree that for far too long the LGBT community has been harassed, ridiculed, beaten, hated, mistreated, and in some extreme cases around the world abused or even killed; while the world at large turns a blind eye to this assault on a class of people.

We are no better in the United States regarding the LGBT community. Our record of mistreatment of the LGBT crowd is not very stellar. We have schools forbidding those who occupy this community from speaking freely, or practicing their lifestyles openly and honestly. We have laws forbidding this community from exercising their free speech rights and are barred from many public places because of their stance on social issues. Their lifestyles are frowned upon by many in our society, and for the most part they are treated like lepers.

This should not be permitted in a free and open society. The members of the LGBT community need to be respected and their beliefs should be regarded as equal to others. They should not be singled out for abuse or ridicule. They should not be treated like second class citizens. They should be free to live their lives without the fear of being accosted or bullied. So, echoing Mrs Clinton, I too want to take a stand to defend the members of the LGBT community and let them know that they have an ally here at the Eagle’s Nest. Let God BTrue! Amen

But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. Isaiah 40:31  (BBE)

This Week’s Tail Feathers

  1. Taking on the ‘class warfare’ debate. Demonizing the rich in order to excite the masses for political gain is a tactic as old as time itself. Although the political parties attempt to draw a distinct line between the have’s and the have not’s reality is not quite so neat. This report shows how the takers are spread evenly across all income levels and all social orders. Those who feel obligated to the wealthand property of others is not a rich versus poor argument, it is a symptom of a government set on enriching itself with as much power and influence possible in order to continue to amass power unto itself. The only remedy to this social ill is to return again to the biblical foundation upon an orderly civil society can best operate. The answer is found in the golden rule which is a simplification of the ten commandments. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. One of the ten commandments says; Thou shalt not covet. Thou shalt not desire anything that belongs to thy neighbor. Imagine how many social ills could be eliminated by this one simple rule.

  6. “Do not muzzle an ox while it treads out grain. Deuteronomy 25:4 (HCSB) Here is a story that argues the moral supremacy of Capitalism. Allowing every individual to pursue their happiness and allow them to keep the results of that pursuit. Our declaration of independence declares that “all men” everyone is entitled to certain rights granted to them by their CREATOR and not allocated by government. Our form of government was established to PROTECT these inalienable rights endowed to us by God. Our Constitution set to limit governments ability to restrict or deny the people these inalienable rights.

Personal pursuits and the owning of private property is the foundation upon which this country grew from obscurity into the greatest wealth producing nation in all of history. The steady diet of one socialistic government program after another has been weakening our financial health and making slaves of us all.

Again we find wisdom in the pages of scripture. Preventing the ox from eating while treading out grain only weakens the ox and before long the ox will die and no work will go forth. Government feels that by squeezing the golden goose somehow the goose will produce more golden eggs. History has proven the Marxist approach does not work anywhere it has been tried.

A Christmas Greeting from Ronald Reagan

Official Portrait of President Ronald Reagan.

“In spite of everything, we Americans are still uniquely blessed, not only with the rich bounty of our land but by a bounty of the spirit — a kind of year-round Christmas spirit that still makes our country a beacon of hope in a troubled world and that makes this Christmas and every Christmas even more special for all of us who number among our gifts the birthright of being an American.” —Ronald Reagan

via Brief for Monday, December 19, 2011 – Editions – PatriotPost.US.

It is difficult to continually listen to all the bad news coming across the airwaves lately. The world is in a state of unrest, the world economy is failing, the American people are being told by their leaders that we are selfish and greedy, the productive in our society are being demonized by those who are supposed to be looking out for America’s interests, and yet there is not other place I would rather be than in the United States of America. I know, like Ronald Reagan, that dispite America’s shortcomings, she is endowed with the grace of God by the people who live and work here. Thank you to all my fellow Americans and may God bless us one and all this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Words of Wisdom From Our Founders

Thomas Jefferson

“Taxes should be continued by annual or biennial reeactments, because a constant hold, by the nation, of the strings of the public purse is a salutary restraint from which an honest government ought not wish, nor a corrupt one to be permitted, to be free.” –Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Wayles Eppes, 1813
