The Symphony of Creation:Creating a worship space part 2

The previous article “First Things First” stated that in the beginning God was at work creating a perfect worship environment in which the collective expression of all of creation would exalt the glory and majesty of the Creator. We continue this thought this month as we take a look at the symphony of creation.More...

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1 & 2 (NKJV)
This scripture points out that apart from God’s divine intervention all there would be is a world without form, void and full of darkness. Even though the world was plunged into total chaos and deep darkness the Spirit of God was hovering about awaiting the Divine director to conduct the symphony of creation. God takes His place and lifts up the baton to call creation to order.

Even though the world was plunged into total chaos and deep darkness the Spirit of God was hovering about awaiting the Divine director to conduct the symphony of creation. God takes His place and lifts up the baton to call creation to order.  Anyone who has ever been to a symphony has witnessed the ‘tuning’. This is when all the instruments are playing together in complete chaos as they fine tune their instruments to concert pitch. At this time the musicians are setting mouth pieces, tightening strings, and making preparations for the evening’s performance. Once the conductor takes his place and taps the baton on the podium all eyes are upon the conductor and that mass chaos of sound is turned into a masterful performance. Thus it was in the beginning. Although all the necessary ingredients where present for a wonderful world it was VOID and full of darkness.

A skillful conductor is able to get the best work from his orchestra even if they are not the most skilled. It is a master conductor’s job to fine tune the orchestra to make best use of the talent present. And it is the players’ job to follow the direction of the leader and do their part to perfect the whole. No one player is more important than another. Without a director there would be no symphony. Without an orchestra there is no need for a director.

Unlike a music director God is not limited in His resources; He is able to create from nothing anything He needs to fulfill His plan and purpose. Like the composer of the music that an orchestra ultimately performs God takes a blank page and creates a masterpiece. Let there be light and there was light.

To achieve excellence requires input from the Divine orchestrator of life. Just having performers on stage does not make an orchestra. Without the willingness to work together as a group to achieve a greater sum than the worth of its individual parts, all you would have is chaos. If no one was willing to play second fiddle there would be no symphony. In the symphony of creation all must play an active, although secondary, part. All must be working toward creating a worship space that glorifies God. All must be yielded to the Holy Spirit which guides God’s divine directives. When all has been subjected to the Divine conductor then it can be said, it was good!

31Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. Genesis 1:31 (NKJV)
