In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)
In the beginning God was at work creating a perfect worship environment in which the collective expression of all of creation would exalt the glory and majesty of the Creator. The creation, though diverse in expression, was unified in purpose to sing the songs of praise to God.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork. Psalm 19:1 (NKJV)
It was God’s plan, from the beginning, to fill this created space with a people who would worship Him and serve Him throughout eternity. We have been commanded to love the Lord and worship Him with our whole hearts.
For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Luke 4:8 (NKJV)
God, being the ultimate creator, is the source of all creativity. Let us use our God given creativity to create a worship experience that will glorify God and uplift His people. Whatever our gift of creativity; we are admonished to use them for the benefit others.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
It is my prayer and hope as the new director of music to encourage you and stir up the gifts God has placed in you; so together we may worship and praise Him with all the diversity and creativity God has gifted us.
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: Romans 12:6 (NKJV)
That’s why, every new beginning — whether it is a day, a week, a year, or a millennium — must begin with God. As we embark on this new journey let us always remember that our primary focus and purpose is to uplift the Lord and worship God with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. He alone is the ultimate Genesis, our beginning.
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:3 (NKJV).
