The Congress that Keeps on Giving

and giving and giving and giving themselves some more.

As the economy fails because of current congressional policies they have the audacity to vote themselves yet another budget busting spending increase.

Congress Gives Itself A Raise

Congress is on the verge of giving itself a bump in its annual budget — even as local governments, families and businesses across the country are tightening their belts in the worst recession in decades.

Under a House-Senate conference measure, approved by the House last week and poised for passage in the Senate on Wednesday, spending for the legislative branch will increase 5.8 percent this year, boosting Capitol Hill’s annual budget to $4.7 billion.

Postal Employees Paid to Do Nothing

I do not know about where you work, but where I work when the company does not have any work for me I do not work and I do not get paid. Unless of course I happen to qualify for unemployment benefits which pays me about 1/3 of what I would make if I actually worked.

To add insult to injury, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is now going to BAIL OUT the post office and FORCE US TO PAY these idle workers OUT OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

And then we wonder why taxes continue to climb while those of us who actually make this country work continue to have to cut back and struggle to make ends meet.

The Federal Times reports the Postal Service is paying out 45,000 hours of “standby time” every week — the equivalent of having 1,125 full-time employees sitting idle, at a cost of more than $50 million a year. Postal union officials estimate that 15,000 employees have spent time this year holed up in so-called “resource rooms” where they read books, do word puzzles, or sleep — and get paid for it.

the American Postal Workers Union, with government protection, is extracting excess wages, benefits, and privileges that other people in the country do not get.

China Cashing In on American Debt Liabilities?

The one bright side to the Chinese Buy-Out of America is that one day we will be able to walk into a Walmart and find the MADE IN AMERICA label again. Of course by then America will be owned by CHINA.

The Empire State Building in New York City recently had a light display commemorating the 60th anniversary Communist Chinese revolution.  This may be a sign of things to come in the rest of America.
As the US budget and trade deficits continue to free-fall, our financial system becomes increasingly dependent upon the good will of our creditors – one of the most important being the People’s Republic of China.  The Chinese are aware that their huge investment in America is vulnerable to 1) America’s ability to repay, and 2) dollar inflation.  China has and continues to search for currency alternatives to the US dollar, but no obvious solution exists at this time.
What happens when the bonds mature and China and Japan and Europe decide to cash in?  With unfunded federal budget liabilities approaching the $100 trillion mark, the US Treasury will simply be unable to pay, at least in cash.
