The 16th Amendment as originally proposed did not tax earned income.

See on Scoop.itEagle Views

The 16th Amendment was sold to the American public as a way to make the rich pay their “fair share.” That law, which was billed as a “soak the rich” scheme, instead now threatens to drown us.

Well today is the last day to fulfill our obligations to the government under the 16th amendment to the Constitution. Every year the taxman comes around to collect their share of our labor to indulge in the reckless pursuits. It wasn’t always like this in America. In fact up until 1913 there was no income tax.

The current tax code is four million words long, and more than four times longer than the collected works of Shakespeare. It requires 25 volumes to contain it and takes up 9 feet of shelf space.

And it was sold to the American people as a way to “make the rich pay their fair share.” Sound familiar?

The current tax code is now four million words long, more than four times longer than the collected works of Shakespeare, and six to seven times longer than the Bible. It requires 25 volumes to contain it, and takes up nine feet of shelf space.

According to Forbes, it takes Americans over six billion hours to comply with its filing requirements. That’s the equivalent of 8,758 lifetimes – in people years, not dog years.

Making the rich pay their fair share has been the governments unending song from the beginning of taxation. They never have enough and the rich they think always has too much, the problem is they lied then and they are lying now. Let’s face it folks the government wants all your money, and they will never stop trying to figure out ways to get it, and hopefully they will even convince you to turn it over voluntarily.

Obamacare is one BIG TAX. The intent of the entire law was never about providing meaningful health care reform but to snowball you into agreeing to give them more of your hard-earned income in hopes of receiving some promised benefit. There is only one problem with this, the government lies all the time when it comes to separating you from your money. They sell you on the idea that the program they are proposing is FOR YOUR GOOD when they have designs on confiscating more of your personal belongings through taxation.

Prior to the passage of the 16th Amendment, almost the sole source of income to the federal government came from tariffs collected on imported goods. That itself was a profound limitation on the size and reach of the federal government. In 1910 the budget for the entire federal government was $1.042 billion.

Then just like today ordinary citizens figured out that the increased cost of goods fell upon the consumer while the corporations would pad their profit margins by raising domestic prices to just slightly less than the foreign imports prices, thus remaining competitive but at the same time generating a higher profit margin.

So the proposed cure is now worse than the original disease if in fact there ever really was a problem to begin with. Being competitive in a world market has always been sound business practices, and no amount of government intervention is ever going to change that dynamic. Businesses will sell their product to the highest paying consumer base or work in the most cost effect market possible to stay in business.

We have been sold a bill of goods and the average American citizen has swallowed this poison pill of covetousness to her own destruction. Politicians will continue to pit the rich against the poor and continue to cry injustice and how they are the ones to see to it that the rich pays their fair share all the while you and I are footing the bill as the fat cats continue to get fatter.

The marketplace is a wonderful thing if left alone to contend with competition. But once competition is eliminated or the federal government comes along picking winners and losers, it is you the American citizen who always comes up with the short straw.

Proverbs 6:6-8 (BBE)
6  Go to the ant, you hater of work; give thought to her ways and be wise: 7  Having no chief, overseer, or ruler, 8  She gets her meat in the summer, storing up food at the time of the grain-cutting.

Even nature teaches us that natural laws are at work in the universe and those who try to manipulate, or violate these natural laws do so at great personal cost. It would seem that ants are far wiser than the American culture because even the ant knows that there is a time of plenty and a time of want and during the time of plenty one must lay aside a part for the lean times that are sure to come.

In 1998 Pixar produced the animated movie “A Bug’s Life” and the protagonists where grasshoppers who’d show up once a year at the ant colony to get their annual food offering so they would not have to work to produce their own food. One year they  arrived and the offering was accidentally spilled into the water and ruined. The grasshoppers did not forgive the ants required offering but instead gave them until the fall harvest to produce twice as much.

The colony is now in trouble, as there isn’t enough food to fulfill the grasshopper’s request and give sustenance for the colony. When the grasshoppers return to discover a meager offering, they take control of the entire colony and begin eating the ants’ winter store of food, and plot to kill the queen.

Their plot is foiled when the ants fight back.

When they all stood together and worked together they were able to overcome the oppressor and turn back the tide of tyranny.

You see the ruling class understands the power of the citizenry and fears it and it is for that reason the ruling powers continue to put wedges between groups to get them fighting with each other and not standing together uniformly to fight the real enemy.

The ant colony knew that by all of them working together the entire colony would thrive, but once dissension was sown into the fabric of their colony, destruction would follow soon after.

The grasshoppers would never stop coming to collect their tax, and each year the burden would get larger and would never end unless resisted in solidarity.

Personally I would like to see the 16th amendment nullified and the IRS eliminated. Is anyone willing to stand with me?

And that is the way I see it. What say you?

Time to Pony Up America: Do Your Fair Share

Now that half of the voting public has re-elected spendthrift Obama for another round of spending we must brace now for the unending raiding of our bank accounts. Anyone who believes that taxing the RICH will put even the slightest dent in the huge hole Obama has dug for us is kidding themselves. There will be tax increases alright, lots of them, on lots of things and on most of the American population.

DON’T worry those of you who do not pay any income taxes, you shall not see any change to your budgets. Your stimulus checks will continue to come to you and you will probably even get a cost of living increase besides. Those Americans who do not have to actually earn their incomes will not have to worry since no one will ask you to SHARE THE PAIN. You shall be exempt from any obligation to repay any of the borrowed money that was given to you.

As for the rest of you, you will be asked to bring over buckets of dirt to fill in the CRATER that was dug all the way to China. Resistance is futile since half of the country wants it this way. You shall be asked to fill-in this hole regardless of the fact that you told them not dig it in the first place, nor provided the shovels to dig the hole. Ignore the fact that your objections to the project were ignored, you still will have to pony up and contribute. AFTER ALL it is only fair.

Again I need to reiterate that anyone who receives a government check or is paid from the general fund will not see any reductions in their incomes and in fact might actually see a cost of living increase. This is to be expected and a reward for your faithful service to the cause.

Back to the rest of you louts. If you ask why we are asking you to fill-up the hole it is because we intend to dig another one and we need the dirt. OKAY AMERICA grab your shovels and start to dig oh I mean fill-in the hole.

Ain’t it grand to be an American? Aren’t you proud to serve your fellow-man and willing to sacrifice for the good of the cause? What is the cause you ask? CAUSE WE SAY SO!

Why I Can Not Vote Democrat

There are lists circulating the Internet listing the 12 or more reasons why people vote republican or democrat and I was going to make a list why I vote republican but that list would be very short since the only reason I vote republican is because I can not vote democrat. Now I would prefer to vote Constitutional Conservative but since there is no Constitutional Conservative party candidate on the ballot I am left with only a couple of options. Not vote at all, vote for a third-party candidate which is most likely not going to win, or vote for one of the other two candidates and since this article is about why I can not vote democrat that leaves me with only one option the Republicans get my vote by default. Now if the democrats ever change their policies to include my positions then I could just as likely vote democrat, but since I have been of voting age the democrat party has continued to exclude more and more of my positions leaving me with absolutely nothing in common with the current democrat party. So let’s see why it is exactly that I can not vote democrat.

  1. RIGHT TO LIFE: I am a strong supporter of the Declaration of Independence right to LIFE provision. And that to me means all life should be considered SACRED and should be protected. ALL have the RIGHT TO LIFE and that right should be protected at all costs. Since the democrat party protects at all cost the killing of innocent children and are not the party of “Right to life” I can not vote democrat.
  2. DEFENSE OF TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE: Since I believe solid families make for a solid community I support the defense of marriage act. Since the democrats have come out so strongly for non-traditional marriage and redefining the terms of marriage they again leave no door open for those of us who happen to believe in the traditional marriage make-up. Therefore I can not vote democrat
  3. FATHER KNOWS BEST: Yes I know this is old-fashioned but marginalizing the role of fathers in our society has led to many ills. Many souls who are imprisoned will lament the absence of a solid father figure. Studies show households with both fathers and mothers outperform homes of single parents in many key factors. According to childwelfare.gov Fathers are important in the healthy development of children. The democrat “war on poverty” policies have had a devastating effect on many urban families. And as such I can not vote for more of the same so I can not vote democrat.
  4. TAXES: The progressive income tax has cost many American jobs. We now have the highest corporate tax rate of any developed nation and as a result many companies are taking jobs and investments off shore. As a result our job market is being adversely affected. Democrats seem to like HIGH TAXES and have yet to propose any solution to this high corporate taxation. Therefore again I can not vote for a failed policy and  thusly I can not vote democrat.
  5. OBAMACARE: This really does not need much of an explanation. I do not believe the federal government should be involved in health care at all. Medicare and Medicaid are failing and since the government is in charge of these programs I am convinced that another program like it will fail just as miserably. Besides forcing an individual to buy anything is unconstitutional even if the supreme court says that it is.
  6. THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS: The second amendment has been a thorn in the Democrat side for years in fact I recall then candidate Obama saying that we like to cling to our guns and our religion. With that attitude toward gun owners I find it impossible to pull the lever for a Democrat so as a believer in the second amendment I can not vote democrat.
  7. THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Corporations are indeed a group of people. Brick and mortar do not create jobs nor pay taxes nor hire employees and since the democrats have a real problem with corporations contributing to candidates other than democrats I can not vote democrat. Usually the democrats love the Supreme court but in the “Citizen’s United” case they are singing another tune. Recently Obama and the democrat party has gone on a rampage against business and free enterprise and as a result I can not vote democrat.
  8. FREEDOM OF RELIGION: Forcing religious organizations to violate their conscience is unconscionable. The constant railing against religion disenfranchises those of us who take our religion seriously. Again this comes down to a right protected by the Constitution and yet another reason I can not vote democrat.
  9. THE RULE OF LAW: Ours is a nation governed by the rule of law not the rule of men. However since taking office Obama has ignored Constitutionally passed legislation and has ignored Supreme court orders. His is a lawless administration but no one from the democrat party seems to have a problem with Obama’s selective refusal to obey or enforce the law. And since I believe very strongly in the ‘rule of law’ I can not vote democrat.
  10. THE CONSTITUTION: This founding document is the ruling law of this nation and its enumerated powers clause was meant to be a hindrance to run-away government. Our founders knew the dangers of too much government and tried to safe guard future generations by limiting the powers of the central government. Democrats have a history of finding clever ways to get around the Constitution of the United States even so much as calling it “living and breathing”, meaning that it has no regulatory meaning at all if it can be changed at the whim of any lawmaker or special court ruling. I can not support interpreters of the Constitution, what I can support are defenders of the ORIGINAL INTENT of the Constitution. Therefore I can not vote democrat.
  11. STATES RIGHTS: Once again we are faced with a Constitutional dilemma. Powers not specifically granted to the federal government remains with the states or the individual. Since taking office and appointing Eric Holder as US Attorney General there have been many lawsuits brought against the STATES regarding Voter ID Laws, Defense of Marriage amendments to state constitutions, illegal immigration enforcement, and even attempts to tell companies which states they can work in. All this is beyond the powers enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. States are free to operate independently of federal intervention. Where the federal government fails to fulfill its duties to the citizens the citizens have a right to expect their States to work in their best interests.   Since I believe in the sovereignty of states and enumerated powers granted to the federal government by the states I can not vote democrat.
  12. A STRONG NATIONAL DEFENSE: This issue comes up each time the democrats gain control of both houses of congress and the white house. Defense spending is the only area they ever find waste and cost cuts. No other department is ever considered for any cuts or reductions it is always the military. The current administration is unilaterally disarming our military while the rest of the world is arming themselves. This I feel is a very dangerous policy and as a result I can not vote democrat.
  13. SCHOOL CHOICE: I believe parents should be given options when it comes to educating their own children. Since democrats are beholden to the teachers unions they are against school choice and any voucher program and education reform in general. One of the current administrations first act as an elected leader was to end the DC VOUCHER program. For this reason and because I believe in school choice I can not vote democrat.
  14. ENTITLEMENT REFORM: The democrat’s experiment with the “great society programs” have all proven to be failures. Yet there is not one democrat willing to discuss the failures and offer solutions or fixes. Whenever a proposal is made by the opposing party to discuss the failures of these programs it is demagogued to death and the sponsors of the bill are demonized. For this reason I can not vote democrat.
  15. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: No budget since 2007. The primary responsibility for congress is to present a budget every year. The democrat controlled Senate has not produced a budget in over 3 years. As a result we are accumulating $1 trillion plus debt every year. This is irresponsible and reprehensible. And another reason I can not vote democrat.
  16. NATIONAL SECURITY: Border control is important. Our country is being infiltrated by trespassers and the current administration wants to grant these lawbreakers amnesty, and bestow upon them rights retained for true American citizens. There are many who wish to come to this country legally and I am all for LEGAL ORDERLY immigration policy, but this, crash our borders, squatters rights is not in the best interest of this country and as such I can not vote democrat since they promote this continued illegal activity.
  17. FOREIGN POLICY: Two words “Arab Spring”. A huge reason I can not vote democrat.
  18. TEA PARTY: Democrats do not want us therefore I can not vote democrat.

And the list goes on and on. Again I do want to emphasize that these are reasons why I can not vote democrat and not reasons to vote republican since many republicans fail to meet these same criteria, but since the democrats are opposed to every one of these points there is no room in the democrat party for someone who holds to these principles. The only conclusion I can come to is the democrat party does not wish to include people like me who believe like I do and since they are excluding me and my views I can not vote democrat.

Now that is the way I see it. What say you?

This Week’s Tail Feathers

  1. Taking on the ‘class warfare’ debate. Demonizing the rich in order to excite the masses for political gain is a tactic as old as time itself. Although the political parties attempt to draw a distinct line between the have’s and the have not’s reality is not quite so neat. This report shows how the takers are spread evenly across all income levels and all social orders. Those who feel obligated to the wealthand property of others is not a rich versus poor argument, it is a symptom of a government set on enriching itself with as much power and influence possible in order to continue to amass power unto itself. The only remedy to this social ill is to return again to the biblical foundation upon an orderly civil society can best operate. The answer is found in the golden rule which is a simplification of the ten commandments. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. One of the ten commandments says; Thou shalt not covet. Thou shalt not desire anything that belongs to thy neighbor. Imagine how many social ills could be eliminated by this one simple rule.

  6. “Do not muzzle an ox while it treads out grain. Deuteronomy 25:4 (HCSB) Here is a story that argues the moral supremacy of Capitalism. Allowing every individual to pursue their happiness and allow them to keep the results of that pursuit. Our declaration of independence declares that “all men” everyone is entitled to certain rights granted to them by their CREATOR and not allocated by government. Our form of government was established to PROTECT these inalienable rights endowed to us by God. Our Constitution set to limit governments ability to restrict or deny the people these inalienable rights.

Personal pursuits and the owning of private property is the foundation upon which this country grew from obscurity into the greatest wealth producing nation in all of history. The steady diet of one socialistic government program after another has been weakening our financial health and making slaves of us all.

Again we find wisdom in the pages of scripture. Preventing the ox from eating while treading out grain only weakens the ox and before long the ox will die and no work will go forth. Government feels that by squeezing the golden goose somehow the goose will produce more golden eggs. History has proven the Marxist approach does not work anywhere it has been tried.

Finally a Prominent Democrat Goes on Record Supporting Tax Cuts

Picture of John F. Kennedy

Image via Wikipedia

Tax reduction thus sets off a process that can bring gains for everyone, gains won by marshaling resources that would otherwise stand idle—workers without jobs and farm and factory capacity without markets. Yet many taxpayers seemed prepared to deny the nation the fruits of tax reduction because they question the financial soundness of reducing taxes when the federal budget is already in deficit. Let me make clear why, in today’s economy, fiscal prudence and responsibility call for tax reduction even if it temporarily enlarged the federal deficit—why reducing taxes is the best way open to us to increase revenues. _President John F. Kennedy,   Economic Report of the President,

Now there is a Kennedy legacy that should be promoted and not universal health care. I wonder if this is why he was shot? Just wondering considering how vitriolic the left are toward anyone mentioning tax cuts today.
