Let everyone keep watch on his neighbor, and put no faith in any brother: for every brother will certainly be tricking his brother, and every neighbor will go about saying evil. Everyone will make sport of his neighbor with deceit, not saying what is true: Jer 9:4-5a(BBE)

Watch out! Beware! Take extra caution! Be on alert! All the warnings were present! The alarm was sounded! Many took the advice and prepared for the arrival of the day. Many did not heed the warning and the day caught them unaware.

On that day everyone needs to keep watch on their neighbors, co-workers, brothers, sisters and other family members, because they do not know who might be trying to trick them. The day is noteworthy for spawning tricksters of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicity. No one is safe from the scheming deceivers. The only thing you can do is arm yourself with as much truth and understanding as possible, so that you do not get tricked into believing a lie. Of course the best tricksters are the ones who make the absurd sound believable, and thusly succeed in deceiving their intended audiences.

As tempting as it was to post a practical joke on April fools day, I decided against it. I am not the best practical joker there is and I have a hard time keeping a straight face when attempting to mislead someone. Therefore because I know my limitations I felt it best to not take up the age old practice of tricking my neighbor.

That being said, the day did not pass by uneventfully though, in fact the biggest April fools joke of all time has been played on an unsuspecting public. The unlearned, and unprepared where swept along in the trickery without even the slightest hint that something was not right. To them everything looked normal, and sounded good.

Considering the planners of this great April Fool’s joke have been working on the plan for a long time. They patiently waited and planned. In fact the whole process took more than 8 years to formulate and execute. But execute they did and they pulled off the greatest practical joke ever– the best April fools joke ever in the history of tomfoolery.

Like any other April fools joke, some find it hard to believe. Some even get suckered into believing the joke to be real. Those who play such practical jokes get a delight out of fooling as many people as possible. After all a great April fools joke has to be believed by many. So it is this year, but instead of it being an April fools joke, it is in fact, reality.

Really! It’s true! There is no denying the facts. The reality is, the joke is not a joke at all. The events actually took place and will be written in future history books. You can fact check this post at Snopes.com and find the information to be 100% true. What are you saying Al? Are you saying that the April fools joke was in fact not a joke at all but truth masquerading as a joke?

You could say that. If it were not so serious, and were it not in fact truth, we would all be enjoying a great laugh at the brilliance displayed by those who set this April fools joke in motion. Some might even wish they had thought of it themselves. But only a few can stake claim to devising such a brilliant, yet deceptive joke. Once I reveal to you how even you may have been stumped, you will stand shamefaced and embarrassed that you actually fell for it.

I am well aware that there will be those who will refuse to believe this joke is actually a joke. They will insist that it is in reality-true. But like any good jokester knows, the best joke contains elements of truth mixed in with the deception making the unbelievable believable. And for that I have to give the originators of this great April fools joke kudos. They really did take the time and spared no expense to make sure they got all the details worked out. And indeed they did.

The best way to catch someone in a practical joke is to make sure you spring it on them when they least expect it. The pranksters did just that. In fact the joke was initiated long before April 1st thus avoiding the day when most people would be aware and suspecting some tomfoolery.

So how was this practical joke pulled off?

By their smooth talk and flattering words they deceive unsuspecting people. Romans 16:18 (GW)

The joke was pulled on the American people November 2008 when many were deceived by flattering words and smooth talk and voted for today’s President. The joke is now on all of us. I guess we could say we are all April fools.

But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. Isaiah 40:31 (BBE)

Along for the journey

High School Teacher teaches Christians more likely to commit rape and murder

And this is no April Fools joke. Of course it certainly is full of foolishness.

A student and his family have filed a federal lawsuit demanding that a popular European history teacher at California’s Capistrano Valley High School be fired for what they say were anti-Christian remarks he made in the classroom.
Chad Farnan, a 16-year-old sophomore, says the teacher, James Corbett, told his students that “Jesus glasses” obscure the truth and suggested that Christians are more likely than other people to commit rape and murder.
Farnan recorded his teacher telling students in class: “What country has the highest murder rate? The South! What part of the country has the highest rape rate? The South! What part of the country has the highest rate of church attendance? The South!” Farnan said he took the tape recorder to class to supplement his class notes.
