Wanted: A True Statesman

Take a note of this quote from Calvin Coolidge and compare this short speech with what OBAMA spews forth this Thursday. I will wager that this short quote from Coolidge will say more than anything Obama’s teleprompted speech will evoke.

"I want the people of America to be able to work less for the government and more for themselves. I want them to have the rewards of their own industry. This is the chief meaning of freedom. Until we can reestablish a condition under which the earnings of the people can be kept by the people, we are bound to suffer a very severe and distinct curtailment of our liberty." –President Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)

Coolidge like Reagan believed in the Enterprise called the American people. He believed that if the citizen was free to engage in pursuits of happiness unhindered by a bloated government leviathan. If the American citizen can engage in private enterprise without being coerced to redirect their energies to fund government waste, fraud and abuse, our economy would not be running in negative numbers. For the first time since 1945 the American economy did not produce any jobs. And all this after all the trillions of dollars Obama spent to stimulate it.

Wishful Thinking

“Using the same old materials of earth air, fire, and water, every twenty four hours God creates something new out of them. If you think you’re seeing the same show all over again seven times a week, you’re crazy. Every morning you wake up to something that in all eternity never was before and never will be again. And the you that wakes up was never the same before and will never be the same either.”
Frederick Buechner

Who is Worthy of Honor?

Good question don’t you think? I believe many today are in positions of leadership not because they are truly worthy to be there but because some how they have won support or perhaps bought their way into the position. Not everyone who holds a position of leadership should be honored and be praised. Only those who are deserving of praise and honor should be given such honor. However tyrants force us into subjection by demanding obedience and allegience. They use force or the threat of force to gain power and control over a people. Honorable men and women do not seek to rule by force but rather seek to earn respect by acknowledging that they are under the authority of God, therefore they know to treat others the way they wish to be treated. Who then is worthy of honor? Those who recognize God’s authority over mankind. These are they who stand with the founders who declared that ‘all men where created equal and were endowed by their CREATOR with certain inalienable rights’ God given rights, rights which need to be respected, cherished, and defended.

The New School Prayer: For a PC World

A group of Houston religious leaders have expressed concern about Gov. Rick Perry’s day-long prayer meeting , saying it excludes non-Christians. More than 50 Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders signed a statement, saying Perry’s involvement in the event sends "an official endorsement of one faith over all others, thereby sending an official message of religious exclusion and preference to all Texans who do not share that faith."

The statement urged elected leaders to not impose their beliefs on others or divide citizens along religious lines. The opposition was organized by the Anti-Defamation League. And yet these same folks tell us that public prayer be banned from school commencement programs, nativity sets not be displayed in public places, and any mention of Jesus or invoking Christian doctrin be banished from government at all levels. So in an attempt to comply with these schizopathic opposers to the faith of our founders here is a revised school prayer. NOTE this prayer must be prayed silently.

Now I sit me down in school, where praying is against the rule.

For this great nation under God, finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites, it violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow, becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green.  That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.  Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall, might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate, God’s name is prohibited by the state.

We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks; and pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They’ve outlawed guns, but first the Bible.  To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, and the “unwed daddy,” our Senior King.

It’s “inappropriate” to teach right from wrong.  We’re taught that such “judgments” do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth control, study witchcraft, vampire and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed.  No word of God must reach this crowd.

It’s scary here I must confess.  When chaos reigns, the school’s a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:  Should I be shot, my soul please take!
