For Freedom We Have Been Set Free

Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm {in this freedom}, and don’t become slaves again. Galatians 5:1 (GW)

An article in the Patriot Post read:

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported this week that virtually no progress has been made in the past year toward cutting duplicate government programs. Shocking, we know. Last February, government bean counters identified 81 areas in which redundant programs run by multiple agencies are wasting billions of dollars. Barack Obama and Congress have acted to eliminate just four in the past year while 60 other areas have undergone some undefined early steps, and 17 haven’t been acted upon at all. Last year, when talk about cutting spending was all the rage in Washington, Obama tried to convince the public that the government would save some real money by eliminating this waste. Such actions are welcome, but they wouldn’t have much of an impact on the overall deficit picture.

The GAO report certainly indicates that there was no impact at all because the president and Congress only paid lip service to the effort. The report’s findings identified some of the biggest culprits in budget redundancies, and none of them should come as a surprise. The Justice Department spent $30 billion in overlapping crime-prevention and victim-service grants since 2005. There are currently 23 agencies involved in 160 different programs to support homeowners and renters in some capacity. Fully two-thirds of all “green” building initiatives don’t have goals or performance measures, making them completely unaccountable to Congress or the public. Meanwhile, members of Congress are still drumming up ideas for new programs that duplicate existing ones.

The Cause

Knock, knock is anybody home? Is there any intelligent life in D.C.? Answer: No! There is never any effort or desire on the part of elected leaders to cut anything in Washington instead they keep finding new ways to rape the American economy with new taxes and regulations. As a nation we are bankrupt. Our Nation’s leaders have led us into bankruptcy morally, spiritually, financially, intellectually, and in leadership. Over several decades, the ever-increasing size and encroachment of the Federal government as come with a continued downward slide into the bankrupt state we now find ourselves.

Faced with such a bleak outlook what do our elected leaders choose to do? More of the same failed policies that have led us to where we are today. All the problems we face in America can be laid squarely at the feet of government. The more things the government gets involved in the worse those things get.

The solution

We fought a great war in this nation to FREE US from tyrannical government. We, as a nation, were established as free. We were all granted unalienable rights under our declaration of independence. We were all declared an independent and a free people. We do not need government granting rights or freedoms! We have been granted those by God. What we need is for the Government to be restrained by the ropes of the Constitution. The constitution was written to RESTRICT government intervention into the lives of a FREE PEOPLE not to interfere in every aspect and nature of the people.

The Constitution, as ratified by the states, is supposed to be the supreme law of the land. It restricts the government and it was amended to insure the rights of the individual would not be infringed upon. The Constitution established the government in subjection to the people and not to subject the people to the government.

“It is, Sir, the people’s government, made for the people, made by the people, and answerable to the people. The people of the United States have declared that this Constitution shall be the supreme law.”  Daniel Webster (1782-1852)

Since we have been granted freedom and are guaranteed those freedoms by God, why would we so willing allow ourselves to become enslaved again? We fought off King George with the help of King Jesus, for what another king? Really? Is that why our forefathers fought a revolution? I think not?

Election day is coming. No single candidate can, nor is able to undo years of abuse by government, however as a people we can hold each elected official accountable to us for the actions they take. we must choose wisely and with great care. The status quo is no longer good enough. We must demand Constitutional representation. We must insist that each leader upholds his oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of these United States of America. We must, as a nation, return to a Constitutional republic or as a nation we are doomed.

This is a view from the nest. What say you?

But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. Isaiah 40:31 (BBE)

Fathers Love Your Children

And he will [himself] go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn back the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient and incredulous and unpersuadable to the wisdom of the upright [which is the knowledge and holy love of the will of God]—in order to make ready for the Lord a people [perfectly] prepared [in spirit, adjusted and disposed and placed in the right moral state]. Luke 1:17 (AMP)

(WNS) — For the first time in American history, more than half of all births to American women under 30 are occurring outside of marriage.

That’s what Child Trends, analyzing data from the National Center for Health Statistics, found out. The New York Times reported this news with an apt lead: “It used to be called illegitimacy. Now it is the new normal.”

This is more important than a trend, because trends are easy to reverse. This is an ooze, a sociological horror film that could be titled The Blob That Ate America. Ask no more why the lives of the next generation, on average, are likely to be more difficult economically (and in many other ways) than that of the baby boomers.

As Bowling Green State University researcher Susan L. Brown (and many others) have found, children born to married couples, on average, “experience better education, social, cognitive and behavioral outcomes” than others.

Many single moms try hard and are overwhelmed. The Times article ends with a vignette about one of them, Lisa Mercado, who is taking a nursing course and working an all-night job at a gas station, so she rarely sees her 6-year-old: “I want to do things with her, but I end up falling asleep.”

The sins of the fathers affect their children. The Times, explaining why some women don’t get married, noted, “Some unwed mothers cite the failures of their parents’ marriages as reasons to wait. Brittany Kidd was 13 when her father ran off with one of her mother’s friends, plunging her mother into depression and leaving the family financially unstable.

“Our family life was pretty perfect: a nice house, two cars, a dog and a cat,” she told the Times. “That stability just got knocked out like a window; it shattered.” Kidd, 21, added that she wouldn’t think of marrying her son’s father, who she said she loves: “I don’t want to wind up like my mom.”

Marvin Olasky is editor-in-chief of WORLD Magazine.

The Lord warns us in Malachi 4:6: And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” (NKJV).  Many problems are associated with a broken home as we heard Brittany Kidd say ‘stability just got knocked out like a window, it shattered.’ The families fanancial security, and emotional stability where shattered in an instant leaving the children to bear the heaviest burden. What did Brittany learn from her experience? She swore she would not end up like her mother and yet she is living as a single mom the exact state her mother was left in.

Father’s and mothers your actions have consequences. As parents you are entrusted by God with the responsibilities that come with bearing children. I do not think it is any stretch to say the increase in out-of wedlock births and abortions are connected. As parents become more and more irresponsible with their own behavior, their children will suffer because of it. Our failure to live as Godly parents leaves behind a wake of ruined lives and shame.

Making abortions mainstream and removing the stigma of single-parent households does not make for a sound society. despite the ever-increasing social safety net spread beneath the single-parent household, reports show children of married parents do better, on average, in all societal issues, educationally, financially, emotionally, and socially. Granted there are exceptions but the chances are far better for children raised in a stable home with two loving God honoring parents.

The gospel writer Luke tells us that John the baptist would go before the coming of Christ to prepare a people who will be placed in the right moral state. The failure of the family is a crack in the foundation of our society which over time will cause it to crumble. There will come a point of no return and our society will be left in tatters much like Brittany’s family. As a society, and as parents, we need to examine our motives and attitudes towards children and learn to make Godly choices. Failure to do right by our children will in the end bring about our own destruction as a nation.

Just another view from the nest.

But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. Isaiah 40:31 (BBE)

Lessons Learned from Singapore

What We Can Learn from Singapore

The Singapore Skyline v3Along with Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, Singapore is one of the original Four Asian Tigers. The Singaporean economy is known as one of the freest, most innovative, most competitive, and most business-friendly. The 2011 Index of Economic Freedom ranks Singapore as the second freest economy in the world, behind Hong Kong. According to the Corruption Perceptions Index, Singapore is consistently ranked as one of the least corrupt countries in the world, along with New Zealand and the Scandinavian countries. . . .

The percentage of unemployed economically active people above age 15 is about 2%. Singapore has the world’s highest percentage of millionaire households, with 15.5 percent of all households owning at least one million US dollars. Despite its relative economic success, Singapore does not have a minimum wage, believing that it would lower its competitiveness.

Here’s what I found most interesting about Singapore’s economic philosophy. “The government has rejected the idea of a generous welfare system, stating that each generation must earn and save enough for its entire life cycle.” Even so, there are a number of “means-tested ‘assistance schemes’ provided by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports in Singapore for the needy.”

If there’s one thing we in the United States can learn from Singapore is its emphasis on self-government, planning for the future for ourselves and families and not to depend on money confiscated from other people.

Now I ask all thinking American’s to answer this one question. Should the United States copy the failed policies of Greece and Spain and Portugal, or would we be better to adapt the Singapore model for economic freedom and prosperity? Now if you selected Singapore I must remind you that Singapore got their economic model from the United States of old. While our liberal leaders keep running fast toward European socialism, more economically advanced cultures are moving toward the ‘free market’ system that American once held dear.

The Extra- Constitutional Mandates of the Obama Administration

  1. Share
  2. The debate is raging all over cyber-space as the Obama administration attempts to force his will upon religiously affiliated institutions, like Catholic
hospitals, to include contraception in its health care plans for employees.

The Catholic Bishops are crying foul that this administration would trample on the Constitutions first amendment rights of freedom of religion. However they do fail to mention that a large percentage of Catholics supported Obamacare at the time it was being proposed. In addition many Catholics voted for Obama in 2008.

  3. The controversy is heated and there is as much support for the measure as there is opposition to it from mainline religious organizations.
  4. Most of the arguments against the mandate are based on a religious exemption. Congress has introduced legislation allowing employers to opt-out of health coverage mandates that they find immoral.
  5. This issue, like so many others, gets bogged down in the weeds with the news media spin and agenda driven discussions. The real issue behind this whole OBAMACARE fiasco is there is no CONSTITUTIONAL power given to the President or any of the many bureaucratic agencies currently writing mandates and regulations governing the American people. All laws are supposed to ORIGINATE in congress, the ONLY authorized LAW MAKING body recognized and empowered under the Constitution. Progressives and liberal politicians on both sides of the aisle have been circumventing the Constitution for decades. They have installed agencies and departments that perpetuate the progressive agenda of centralized power at the  federal level. This ever-expanding leviathan has choked off individual liberties and has made criminals out of everyday ordinary citizens.

Where does it state in the Constitution that an American citizen needs to ask permission from the central planners in Washington before they can live their lives? The government has gotten so large and intrusive there is hardly anything in our lives that is not regulated or controlled in some way by some agency or department in Washington D.C.

Yes I agree that forcing religious organizations to violate their conscience is unconstitutional but I argue that most of what the federal government does is unauthorized and thus invalid as far as the Constitution is concerned.

I know what the opposition is going to say that the Supreme court as ruled the federal government has such powers but I still argue the intent of our founders was to LIMIT the federal government’s powers precisely for this reason. An out of control, all-powerful central government will make slaves of us all. We are no longer a representative republic since we are ruled by the mandates and dictates of a few. This in any other country would be called a dictatorship, whether it is the dictates of one man or the dictates of a few, our nation is supposed to be a government of, for and by the people.

We have gone far afield from the intents of our founding. We are adrift on the sea of tyranny and are fast approaching the end of a great nation. We the people need to understand the seriousness of our state of affairs and make a major course adjustment quickly and with conviction. The upcoming election is probably the most important election in our live times. We must, if we love America, fight once again to maintain our republic.

    Benjamin Franklin was asked at
the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, when queried as he
left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation…

“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”

“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

My friends the future is up to us. Are we going to fight to maintain the Republic which was established upon these shores or are we going to allow an out of control government steal our liberties and destroy our nation?

This is just a View from the Nest. What say you?
