Obama Administration regrest boycott of UN Racism meeting

Well it is good to see that there is a line that Obama will not cross. It is okay to visit nations that bash Israel as a matter of national policy but we will draw the line with attending a UN MEETING which holds basically the same values.

Now I am not saying I am opposed to Obama’s position but I really wish he would take a REAL stand and not just a SYMBOLIC one. If he would not sit down with rogue nations because of their policies toward Israel and terrorism and weapons of mass destruction then I might actually stand up and applaud this resident.

Not holding out too much Hope for that Change though

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration has decided “with regret” to boycott a U.N. conference on racism next week over objectionable language in the meeting’s final document that could single out Israel for criticism and restrict free speech, the State Department said Saturday.

The decision follows weeks of furious internal debate and will likely please Israel and Jewish groups that lobbied against U.S. participation but upset human rights advocates and some in the African-American community who hoped President Barack Obama, as the nation’s first black president, would decide to send an official delegation.

Concern is high that the meeting may descend into heated debate over Israel that marred the last such gathering eight years ago, especially since Iran’s hardline president _ who has called for Israel’s destruction – will attend.
