How To Tank an Economy: Let Me Count the Ways

Despite efforts to spin reality, there are 5 signature Obama policies which have hampered economic recovery. According to the Heritage Foundation they are as follows:

Amplify’d from blog.heritage.org
  • Stimulus package—The nearly $1 trillion boondoggle failed to stimulate, as we all now know, but made government grow beyond its means. Most of the stimulus bill was filled with the usual government pork or repeating failed policies of the past such as “shovel-ready” projects. Very few provisions were pro-growth and worked to encourage companies to create new, permanent jobs. Some provisions, such as increased unemployment benefits, unfortunately increase the duration of unemployment. The bottom line is that the stimulus bill was based on the flawed economic assumption that governments can spend their way back to prosperity and growth. The government stimulus bill did not create jobs; instead it filled job creators with fears of future tax hikes or more borrowing, and thus future artificially high interest rates.
  • Obamacare—It took the Administration and the Democratic-held Congress a year and half to ram this piece of legislation down the throat of the American people, time that could have been spent fixing the employment picture. Worse yet, Obamacare imposes vast and expansive new regulations and made labor costs uncertain. Many businesses have said that they are not going to hire permanent workers until they understand exactly how much Obamacare is going to cost their business and raise employment expenses. Other businesses are not sure how the new Obamacare regulations impacts their bottom line, which means they are going to sit tight instead of expanding.
  • Frank-Dodd Financial Bill—The heavy-handed Dodd-Frank financial regulation bill not only placed needless burdens on small as well as large financial institutions,  but has deterred investment by imposing ill-defined restrictions on those who want to invest in the economy.  And it did so without addressing the real causes of the financial crisis.
  • Environmental Protection Agency regulation—Unable to get Congress to pass Cap and Trade, with its skyrocketing electric rates, the Obama EPA is skinning the cat another way—mandating costly regulation. The EPA is implementing a lineup of electric-industry regulations, including the already in-force, but-as-yet-unspecified new CO2 rules, that promise higher rates, less reliability, and a sketchy future business environment.  It’s no great surprise that firms haven’t turned up the throttle on hiring and expansion.
  • Regulatory Assault on Employers—The Administration’s enforcement agencies view employers as lawbreakers who need to be brought in line. Within the Department of Labor the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Wage and Hour Division (WHD) have ramped up enforcement spending while cutting back programs that help employers understand and comply with the law. Obama’s Solicitor of Labor emphasizes the Labor Department’s focus on litigation against employers. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is twisting the law into pretzels to facilitate union organizing, going so far as to file charges against Boeing for creating jobs in a non-union state. Obama’s message to employers has been clear: “We suspect you are breaking the law and we will get you.” Small wonder they are not hiring.

Christian wallpaper Proverbs 14:34
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;
but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Prov 29:2 (RSV)

I do not know about you but I hear a lot of groaning going on. Could it be a reflection of leadership?
I think so! Out with the wicked in with the righteous. What say you?

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34, NIV)

Arnold Toynbee, the renowned British historian, made the following observation about Western society:

1. There’s a decline in honesty, and absence
of common purpose in the Western world.

2. Material success and gross national product are
aims of Western peoples and governments.

3. Nations rise or fall in relation to the moral unity
of the family and the moral purpose of the state–
both in decline in the West.

Even though Toynbee was pessimistic about the West, he believed if leaders of government would appeal to the ideals of the people and not just to their pocketbooks, there could be hope for an ethical revolution.

I would clarify the above by stating that if the government was preserving the God given rights of the individual our founding father’s fought for rather than enslaving the population by onerous government taxation and regulation, and expected the individual, exercising their God given rights and freedoms to excell, our nation would rise to even greater heights.

The down-turn in our society started when the federal government decided it could choose what was best for the individual and started a steady intrustion into individual’s rights and responsibilities, replacing them with laws and regulations, entitlements, and permissions granted by the state. The ever growing central government has led to the degradation of the population. Rather than raising up mature men and women of valor, the state with it’s ever expanding entitlements is making dependents of us all. Let us once again declare our independence from tyranical government and once again cry out for liberty and justice for all.
True, we need an ethical revolution, but much more we need a spiritual revolution. Without a spiritual return to the laws of nature and of Nature’s God we really can not expect a return to ethics. John Adams so wisely stated:

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Unless we turn to God and acknowledge his rightful place in our hearts, and as the One who made our nation possible, and rebuild our nation’s moral foundation based on his directives, neither an ethical nor a spiritual revolution is likely to happen, and America will no longer be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Just another view from the nest. What say you?

Thank you Heritage Foundation for this simply to understand video of Government regulated education’s failures. We need to return local education to the control of local jurisdictions and the families whose children are affected by the education being offered in their communities. Like they say the customer is always right. Except when it comes to Federal bureaucracies.

And the Theft Continues

“The Obama administration will begin to tap federal retiree programs to help fund operations after the government lost its ability Monday to borrow more money from the public, adding urgency to efforts in Washington to fashion a compromise over the debt.”

Notice how he never mentions a curb to federal spending. No matter how much money they take in they always want more.

Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner has warned for months that the government would soon hit the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling — a legal limit on how much it can borrow. With that limit reached Monday, Geithner is undertaking special measures in an effort to postpone the day when he will no longer have enough funds to pay all of the government’s bills.

Again notice there is no plan that includes a curb to spending. As the story continues it only gets worse.

Geithner, who has already suspended a program that helps state and local government manage their finances, will begin to borrow from retirement funds for federal workers. The measure won’t have an impact on retirees because the Treasury is legally required to reimburse the program.

Exactly what they said when they raided the Social Security trust fund and replaced the funds set aside for senior citizen retirement with IOU from the treasury. How has that repayment plan worked out for Social security. Again notice not one word about a curb to spending. The federal government feels that every expenditure is needed and there is absolutely no curbs in spending that is reasonable.

If Congress does not vote by Aug. 2 to raise the debt limit, Geithner says the government is likely to default on some of its obligations, which he says would cause enormous economic harm and the suspension of government services, including the disbursal of Social Security funds.

Again with the scare tactics. The sky is falling and we must hurry and pass a bail-out, or a stimulus bill, or Obamacare, or some other thoughtless legislation which gives more and more money to the federal government and leaves less money in the pockets of the American people.

The government needs about $125 billion more a month than it takes in each month. In a sane world spending would be cut by $125 billion in order to balance the budget but only in Washington D.C. can they continue to write checks that WE THE PEOPLE are then forced to pay. We said no to bail-outs they did it anyway. WE said no to Simulus money, they did it anyway. We said hell no to obamacare and they shoved it down our throats anyway. We said no to raising the debt ceiling and yet the debate continues.

In a letter released last week to Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Geithner wrote that a default would risk a “double-dip” recession. Yet he failed to mention the a ever increasing debt load has led to the continuing decline of the dollar which will cause a FAR GREATER burden to our future then cutting wasteful government spending would. Why must it always be WE NEED MORE MONEY and they never want to live with less. The government continues to grow no matter how bad the economy gets. It grows in good times and in bad times. In times of economic booms and in times of economic busts. NO matter what the government always wants more of your liberty and more of your property.

“Default would not only increase borrowing costs for the federal government, but also for families, businesses and local governments — reducing investment and job creation throughout the economy,” Geithner wrote. Yeah so how about we the people simply say NO and take away the check book, cut up the credit cards and send these folks to rehab for their addiction to spending. I am afraid that the only way we can get the government to cut spending is to actually lower the debt limit. Forcing them to live within their means. No more credit on the backs of the American people.

Let us not forget that the democrats failed to pass a budget in 2010 for 2011 and they just went on a spending spree without any regard to the consequences of their actions, The government is out of control and they are behaving irresponsibly with our money.

There is a proposed budget for 2012 on the table that the democrats in the Senate refuse to even consider. They do not want to be held accountable for their fiscal irresponsibility. Therefore we the people say NO MORE!!!
