The Post article asserts that corn prices have “been climbing for months on the back of booming government-subsidized ethanol programs.”
Researchers Robert Zubrin and Gal Luft point out that the total U.S. corn crop has increased 45 percent since 2002. The amount of corn available for food and feed has increased 34 percent —- after the part used for ethanol has been taken out.
But haven’t those farmers cut back on other crops
Apparently not. As Zubrin and Luft also note, U.S. soy plantings this year are expected to be up 18 percent, wheat plantings 6 percent, and overall, U.S farm exports are up 23 percent.
American farmers are rational businessmen. When the prices crops command rise, they produce more — both by increasing acreage under cultivation (only about 30 percent of U.S. farmland is currently cultivated), and by cultivating more intensively — producing more bushels per acre.
The Post article also blames higher prices on global warming
But there is no solid evidence to suggest that
Truth be damned! Once again our biased media can not get the facts right concerning a topic as important as the rapid increase in food costs. The Post blames it on everything from global warming to less crop production none of which is proven by the actual facts. In fact the biggest contributor to the rapid increase in world food prices may just be the 40% increase in the fuel costs to produce and transport the food products around the world. All other indicators would seem to indicate that a drop in food prices would be in order. However it is costing the farmers more to produce and ship the product thus adding to the bottom line, (the price charged at the actual consumer).I believe if they were to admit that fact they would also have to admit that the more you tax an operation the MORE it will cost the consumer in the end. I know they do not want to state that.

OH MY MY MILEY!

clipped from www.christianpost.com
Miley Cyrus, the extremely popular 15-year-old star of Disney’s Hannah Montana, became the focus of a national controversy this week after photos of her appearing topless and covered only in a bed sheet were published in Vanity Fair magazine.
Although the release of the photos brought immediate condemnation on the emerging star that many assumed to be a good role model for their children, others criticized the magazine for what they said was “manipulation” of the young star into an act amounting to sexual exploitation.
In a tearful apology to her fans, Miley – who has often spoken openly about the importance of her Christian faith and beliefs – said that she felt duped by the magazine into an uncomfortable situation.
“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about,” she said in a statement.
blog it
Miley Cyrus in Vanity Fair (BLOG POST) Shame on you Vanity Fair magazine. Double shame on Miley Cirus and triple shame on her parents. According to Vanity Fair magazine Miley’s parents were present during this photo shoot. Now I ask you what is really artistic about a 15 yr old young lady topless covered only with a bed sheet? You mean to tell me this was the only thing ARTISTIC you could find to depict this young lady? Wasn’t there a far more wholesome way to showcase your daughter Billy Ray then having her likeness plastered on millions of copies of a magazine TOPLESS?

I do not wish to be too hard on Miley after all she is only 15 yrs old and I am sure handling more than most adults have to deal with in a life time at a very formidable age. The adults involved however ought to know better.

Vanity Fair is fast becoming a sleaze mag like so many others cluttering up the store shelves.

Yes MILEY you were duped like so many young ladies in our society have been by manipulative predators. Anytime anyone asks you to take your clothes off so they can take pictures tell them politely to go to hell. Okay I guess that would not be very polite but come on girl. You can sing, you can dance, you can act, you are funny and attractive. You have more money then most people will see in a life time you do not have to take your clothes off for anyone. How much exposure do you need?

Billy Ray you ought to know better.
